Snowy Monday
« on: February 02, 2009, 10:57:31 AM »
We have several inches of global warming here in London, and the whole place has come to a standstill. We haven't had snow like this for at least 10 years and it is actually quite fun as an occasional event.

Love the pics, Bijou!

No snow here YET, but it's supposed to start some time this evening...only supposed to be a couple inches, though.

Mr Flame is working a different schedule this month, and it's totally messing with my routine...it's not a huge change, (he goes in 2 hours later, and comes home 2 hours later) but it's odd having him home first thing in the am (he's usually gone when I get up).

Just finished a wonderful lunch...made a small turkey salad with some of the turkey we smoked yesterday...added some chopped walnuts and halved red grapes...quite yummy!

No plans to go anywhere today.

That salad sounds good. We are supposed to have a storm tonight, hopefully it will pass without too much damage.

You see, if you had bought more carbon credits this would never have happened.  Now the only way to improve the weather is to raise taxes. [/algore mode]

We were supposed to have rain today, with possible snow flurries late today, evening.

Instead, we got this....

front yard from upstairs window...

backyard from upstairs deck....

side yard from upstairs window....

Schools have been scrambling around to get the kids home. Businesses are closing. My office closed at 12:30.

It was 60 degrees and sunny yesterday....was supposed to be in the mid-40's today....which is was at 1am :whatever: It's supposed to continue for another couple of hours. The weather guy said then it will probably go back to rain and they are hoping for the roads to dry out before dark and the temps go to mid 20's.

I think I should have gone to the grocery store.....

Got an email from my son in Knoxville, TN and asked if school (UT) was closed for the day.  Here's his response:

Quote
UT will only close if a) Oak Ridge has been bombed, b) The Smokys have caught fire and it's moving north, c) the heart of campus opens up and falls into a massive underground cave, or d) 8 inches of ice have coated President Petersen's driveway.  Since none of those processes are currently underway, we are still in class.

All the other colleges in the area either have closed are are closing shortly.
Even the government offices are closing....

The list just went across the bottom of the tv screen again....no mention of UT...

I miss phone booths. :(

Sunny and high 20's here.

I watched "Grand Torino" this morning.  Holy catz what a GREAT film.  Why the HELL did this film get snubbed so bad by the Oscars?  Eastwood deserved a nom for best Director and he probably deserved a nod for Best Actor as well.

Seriously great film.  "Defiance" wasn't bad either.

I have a little puddle of puppy here poured out over my toes. :)

Pretty quiet week ahead here.

It's sunny and 55 here right now.  :)

I'm so tired today and I have to work until 8:30pm.  :(  I'm leaving early tomorrow to meet up with a group from school to work on our team project.

Oh and my dips were a big hit yesterday.  All were delicious.

Beautiful day here today. Still a little cool(35) but its above freezing, the snow continues to melt, and it's sunny outside. The next two days are in the 20's, but then we start climbing from there until it's 50 by the weekend...WOOHOO!

I'm just finishing up some schoolwork online, reading, eating my salad, and getting ready to workout again tnight. This is a big cardio night for me.

But you all know that.

It's only in the 70's here.   :-)

Chilly and rainy here.  I'm done with class for the day, but not with homework. :( I need to finish up the lab report for Physics and that's it.

I'm just glad I have the day off from work.  Last night was a nightmare which I will not discuss publicly.

It's about 55° here in North Central Texas and partly sunny. I like snow as long it only comes to visit for a day or so. Six months of winter and snow removal gets to be quite old, year after year.

As of today, I am officially employed. I start on Feb 16th (my choosing) to work tech support for a company that does tech support for Verizon DSL. It doesn't pay much, but something is better than nothing, I suppose. I'm also stalling, waiting on documents  to come in hoping for the better paying San Angelo Avionics job.

Great pictures, Deb!  We managed to avoid any accumulation of global warming here.  It's just cold and windy.

I like that second one... very cool.

Here are some more photos of the snow in London.  Some are interesting, some have me wondering why the police are shoveling snow and not some other city department.

I love the pictures. I just wish it would do any kind of precipitation here. We need it badly. It's been a very dry winter.
