Stoopud Reelijun!
« on: February 01, 2009, 08:11:11 AM »
While looking for something to add to our beloved thread here I happened across a thread pondering the why's, when's and wherefore's of religion in US politics. We've seen it all before and it hardly seems worth repeating as it adds nothing new to the conversation.

But then I stumbled across this:

8. I blame religion
 Sorry to offend any good godly folks among you but I will never not blame religion for letting the entire Earth go to Hell.

"God's image" my ass. Humans are a disease from now on because they won't take responsibility. The only purpose of religion is helping the monkeys think what we're doing is okay because Earth is ours to rape and Heaven's all we should care about anyway.

I blame religion for ****ing the whole Earth.
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x4943753

Now I will confess in the interests of full disclosure that I am not a church-going bunny and my life is hardly an example of piety or meekness but I must take umbrage with this person's mis--or lack of--reading.

The last time I surveyed the Genesis story humanity was in fact placed in charge of the earth but in the capacity of caretaker. Only after the fall did he have to strive for his living on a hostile world made hostile by his rebellion. So the charge of religion granting man license to destroy the earth seems hollow.

Nor does religion meet the charge of being "a disease...because they won't take responsibility" It seems that when the Divine confronted Man and Woman It offered their newly awakened moral minds the chance to confess their misdeeds. Woman immediately blame-shifted to the serpent. Man in turn blame-shifted to Woman and capped it off by impugning Providence for ever having given her to Man in the first place.

If that doesn't describe humanity (lagopmorphs being profoundly different) I don't know what does.

Is not the confession of sins the first step of remediation with the Divine and the rehabilitation of self?

I may be mistaken in my reading of the Bible and will accept correction as appropriate.

Also, I notice the stunted ***** primitive casts the Biblical religions as the archetypes of all religions when in fact it is so very unique. If there be a God I should hope such willful ignorance (descending from the word to "ignore") is a damnable sin. Not because I would wish ill upon this DUmmie but because his errors are so deliberate, egotistical and contemptible in nature...just like Man and Woman accusing the Divine for their own failings.
According to the Bible, "know" means "yes."

Never any personal responsibility on their parts, is there?

Have humans done some terrible things to the Earth God gave us? You bet.

He's given us free will. But He's also presented some things on how we're to treat the earth and each other. And how to love Him and love each other.

Now if the DUer is singling out Christianity, which believe he is, since he makes reference to what the Holy Bible says in Genesis !, regarding humans being made in God's image, then when he says he blames "religion for ******** the whole Earth," he's blaming God.

That's not new for liberals and leftists or members of man-made religions, even some Christians.

But, news flash, DUer: Humanity has had its own will. And while it must cause God to cry when humans do what they do to each other or, at times, to the earth, by not being better or the best stewards they can be, make no mistake: It was the human who made the choice to do what he or she did.

But, of course, God and Christianity are always good whipping boys, right?

BTW: If the DUer thinks humans are a disease, then the DUer is part of that disease. So he must include himself as part of the problem. Wonder if he ever connected that dot?

BTW: It no longer offends me when people disparage me or any other Christians for what we believe. I think it's fairly misplaced most of the time, but so what?

Once, long time ago, though, as a full-fledged, swill-drinking, woman-chasing, kill-people-with-my-acid-tongue, being-arrogant, attitudinal, abortion-supporting pagan and New Ager, I once said Christianity was disease. Used to rub my beliefs in the face of parents and relatives who were Chrisitans. Mocked them to their faces as well as behind their backs. Laughed at them.

Lived long enough to eat those words, repent of saying them and those actions/lifestyles, treating my relatives and other so despicably, and understand what an ignorant, God-hating, pompous ass I'd been.

But the Lord God arrested my attenion in a very unmistakable way. And pulled my spirit, at least, from the spirutal and emotional sewer in which I'd lived for a long time.

So if I can attest to anything about God, it's that He's one of hope and forgiveness, as well as redemption and restoration.

And, yes, One who promotes self-responsibility and accountablity, contrary to the dim view the DUer holds of God and Christians.

There's always hope. Always. Even for this DUer who needs prayer to remove that darkness from his soul, while it still can be.

I know that ruffed grouse taste like chicken, from personal experience . . . once I got by the #6 lead "seasoning" that was put into it.

Socialism under various names in just the 20th century.

National Socialist Party = 40,000,000 dead and almost wiped out one religion.

Communist Party (Lenin Wing)
Stalin = 35,000,000 dead
Mao = 45,000,000 dead
PolPot = 2,000,000 dead

Those guys thought religion was a bad thing to.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

I'm sure it means SOMETHING to them.

It means: unfinished business.

Being that some of the DUmmies are prone to claiming conservatives don't pay attention to the Beautitudes, I give you...

Quote from:
Matt. 5: 11-12

Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

But I see that none of the DUmmies brought this to the stuntcat primitive's attention.  I guess the Beautitudes are only to be mentioned when confronting those who can't react back without being TS'd or to those politically opposite of the left.

Because third world peasant labor is a good thing.
