Today was good & bad. I got the job in Oklahoma IF I want it. (It's 20 miles away, all highway) I aced their "tech support" test  ::) The bad part is that I can't find my passport or SSAN Card. My birth Cert is somewhere up in MN. So, without those two, I can't be "employed"  :argh: I have a duplicate birth cert & SSAN Card on the way. A new passport will cost me $100+ and I don't have that to spare right now, besides, my birth cert and SSAN Card will arrive long before the new passport.

Congrats on the job! H5 dude. (if you want it)

It's been years and years since I lived in Oklahoma but I don't recall needing a passport to get in and out. Is there a land rush redo I don't know about??

Five of my co-workers were laid off this week. My workload doubled overnight. And then I was told I had to take a mandatory 10-day furlough, split up.

So if I was laid off, I would have been screwed. I'm still working and I'm screwed.

Yeah, it's been kind of a craptacular week.

Congrats on the job, Thor. :)  I'm being put back on the project I was doing before I had my hours changed.  I got an email from the dept manager asking me to read up on an ASA 5510 Intrusion Prevention System.  Whee!  Other than that, today was more of the same.

I'm off tomorrow, and I have beer.  Life is okay (until the beer runs out).

My birth Cert is up in MN someplace. I have ordered a new copy of both, but that'll take a couple of weeks.  :( My SSAN Card and Passport would work as showing that i'm legal for employment. Ohhh, and the OK job wants a copy of my high school diploma :???: That was 33 years ago and a dozen moves since. I have NO clue where that may be. I haven't seen that in as many years.

State of TN required my HS diploma in order for me to get licensed in real estate...I thought I would never find it. Finally found it stashed in a box in the attic. They wouldn't accept my college diploma  :thatsright:.....I knew where it was!

You might be able to call your old high school and ask them if they can provide something for you.

According to the HR guy, I should be able to go to the high school and get a copy or something. I will have to call them on Monday. Fortunately, I'm once again in the same town as my high school. So, that's no big deal. The other thing about my birth cert is that I was adopted by my step-dad. I could go and get my ORIGINAL birth Cert, but it doesn't have my same last name. I do have access to the adoption papers. But...... I answered the job application wrong as far as any other last names. Nothing ever happened to me under my original birth name, so I never even use that.

My step-mother adopted me when I was almost 15 after she married my dad (and was put in charge of my trust fund  :( ). What I didn't know, is that it created an entirely new birth certificate. Found out when I called the state for a copy of it to register to vote.

When I went home for Christmas break that year, I found my original. I've used it ever since.....it is who I really am.  :censored: One of these days, I swear I'm going to pay a lawyer to switch it back to my original.
