Stimulus has plum for lawmaker's son
« on: January 29, 2009, 11:29:22 AM »

A top House Republican is demanding an investigation into whether the more than $2 billion for national parks in the House stimulus package is proper in light of the fact that the chief lobbyist for the National Parks Conservation Association is the son of House Appropriations Committee Chairman David R. Obey.

NPCA is a major player in advocating for national parks funding, and its senior vice president for government affairs is Craig Obey, son of the Wisconsin Democrat who has long been his party's top Appropriations Committee member.

The money included in the stimulus bill that passed Mr. Obey's committee - $2.25 billion - was about equal to the National Park Service's total yearly budget, and would be a staggering increase and almost three times the $802 million that the Senate Appropriations Committee approved for park spending in its stimulus bill.

On Wednesday evening, the House passed the $819 billion stimulus bill by a 244-188 vote, though every Republican in the chamber and 11 Democrats voted against it.

I wonder how much Bella Pelosi & her husband will make off the stimulus package?   :fuelfire:

Shocking! Appalling! NOT.
"It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians not on religions, but on the gospel of Jesus Christ! For this very reason, peoples of other faiths have been afforded asylum, prosperity and freedom of worship here." -- Patrick Henry, 1765

Actually, I still reserve the right to be shocked and appalled.  I did not know this little gem, thank you for posting it.
That's a lot of bucks for the parks.  I can just imagine what kind of hole this money would go down.  I camp at some of our national parks.  Some are nothing more than trees and a latrine.  What do they need that money for?  It's not like a Nancy Pelosi travel budget.

I can tell you that this department has loads and loads of staff.  Make work stuff, probably.  I had to go through the labyrinth of the NPS to find out about tax credits to restore my historic home.  After 24 manhours of runaround, I find out the bottom line is this:  If you spend $250K on the house, you have to come up with an extra $250K to spend on restoration.  Then, you can get a little tax credit.  WTF?  Who has that kind of coin lying around?   What is incentivizing me to not spend $500K on a brand spanking new beautiful home on the water??

Remember when Frank's peter-puffing boyfriend was high up in Fannie Mae, so Frank did everything in his power to help his "man" from any extra regulations?

Face it, Dems are immoral. They'll keep f'n re-electing crooks so the damn politicians keep doing the same shit. They KNOW their constituency is comprised of a buncha f'n idiots. If you're conservative, your ass is booted out. If you're liberal, all you have to do is say, "well, it was for the progressive cause" and you're given a f'n lifetime achievement award.

There's a reason some call them DemONrats.

NAMBLA is a left-wing organization.

Quote
There's a reason why patriotism is considered a conservative value. Watch a Tea Party rally and you'll see people proudly raising the American flag and showing pride in U.S. heroes such as Thomas Jefferson. Watch an OWS rally and you'll see people burning the American flag while showing pride in communist heroes such as Che Guevera. --Bob, from some news site
