NYC Woman Denied Job As Bikini-clad Barmaid Sues

(AP) A woman who wanted a job as a bikini-clad barmaid at a New York City eatery says managers rejected her because she has a "Latin accent." Melody Morales has sued seeking unspecified damages and saying she applied 15 times for a job at the Hawaiian Tropic Zone restaurant and bar. She says managers always denied there were any openings even though other employees said there were.

Her lawsuit says one manager told her her "Latin accent" would ruin his business. She says another told her "You don't speak white."

Morales says she was born in New York to Dominican and Puerto Rican parents. And she says she looks good in a bikini.

Representatives of the restaurant didn't immediately respond to calls seeking comment Tuesday.

I couldn't find a pic of a bikini clad bartender, but how about one of a bikini wearing lawn waterer?

Since when is having an accent a protected class?  I was dealing with some TSA guy in Miami and I couldn't understand a freaking word he was saying.  I eventually asked him how someone from another country got a job with TSA.  He said he was born in Miami and then had me pulled aside for "special screening."  I was too busy laughing to get pissed -- I had 3 hours to kill at that gawdawful airport anyway so it was entertaining to me.

-snip-

Melody Morales said she was rejected for a job by a manager at the Times Square restaurant who griped, "You don't speak white" and "you are ghetto."

Yes, yes she is.

Morales, who said her dream job is to pour drinks while strutting her stuff in a bikini, returned to the Hawaiian Tropic Zone months later still in pursuit of a position.

Her dream job?!?!?!  That's just sad.

Sorry, but half the native Hawaiian girls were unintelligible as well when they were speaking Pidgin.

Her lips are kind of gross.  Reminds me of when Jim Carey was on In Living Color and he did this female barbarian character and who made her lips full by burning them on a curling iron.

Normally I would say it's a Florida "thing", but this is NYC..........................

I saw a comment on another board about this pic.  It does look like it's poorly photoshopped.  Notice the jagged edges along her stomach on the left side of the pic, (her right side)?

I see that now.  So she doesn't look as "hawt" as she says.  Eww.
