McCain looked, sounded, and acted tired throughout the whole campaign.

Palin was vibrant, energetic, and engaging. Compared to McCain, she was stunning in her looks, delivery (for the most part) and in how she engaged and connected with whom she spoke.

Her entire presentation/package went far beyond what the press could do - for ill or for good - for those who paid attention.

But the rampant, incessant mantra about Palin's clothing, her pregnant daughter, that friggin' Bridge to Nowhere bullshit all of that eventually overshadowed her.

Why? Because the sheeple listen to the media. And far more listen to the alphabet soup bullshit than to multiple sources.

And we all know about the alphabet soup bullshit.

McCain is done on the national scene. He'll hang out in the Senate for a few more years, then hang it up.

Palin, on the other hand, is just beginning. She has a bright future and for one, I'll be watching her.

That's a fair question. Best way to see how she answers that is to observe her record as governor and then later to challenge her on that in debate.

The prevailing view has been almost a complete lack of fiscal conservatism, irrespective of party. It's hard to be the asshole and veto legislation time after time after time when Congress continues to bring you bills laden with pork and earmarks.
