There was no option for:  I don't work but I'm nervous about my husband's job.

I work at a car dealership.  Things have tightened up quite a bit.  While logically if they were going to cut back in the office it would be someone in another position (the title clerk & the inventory clerk) things don't always work logically around here.  Apparently the inventory clerk would just "refuse" to do title work, but logically those two positions should be combined (I say let her ass quit and see if she can find something as cushy as here).

My situation is good and will likely stay that way till I retire permanently.

I work for a Fortune 100 company (meaning lots of resources and bennies that are truly wonderful), but in a small (but profitable) plant in a little-known, out-of-the-way plant.

Of course, I'm touching wood as I type this.

The big problem is Mrs. E. She has a master's in music education, yet hasn't worked in her profession in 8 years. She's had 6 jobs in the last 6 years and recently took a gig working as a church secretary for $10 an hour.

There's a blessing there in that also for the first time since 2001, she doesn't have a 50 mile or more commute. When gas was $4.25 a gallon, that was killing us.

I don't work, and right now I"m not too worried about Mr Flame's job.  He works with CTU, monitoring terrorist designanted inmates.  Ask me next year, after Barrack has had a chance to mess with the BOP budgets.

Things are looking up. There seem to be some jobs that I can physically do that are popping up over the last few days. I haven't acquired one yet, but I'm working on it.

Job is solid, that being said it is sales, business to business sales at that.  I've had back to back great quarters and a couple of good quaters before those so nothing to worry about - as long as businesses keep buying.

They demoted one manager back to mechanic and laid off a mechanic. Overtime needs approval and parts inventory is tight.  May only be open five days a week. Oh they are going to paying twice a month instead of weekly.

*tapping wood, crossing fingers, etc...*

I seem to be doing okay. I've managed to make myself indispensable and now work for the owner directly.

We had some people quit last year and before I started there, they laid off some other people to prune the dead wood. They have handled the bumpy economy by not replacing these folks. Actually, that was a good thing. They could still use some tightening up in my opinion but there are some sacred cows that will be alllowed to graze forever while the rest of us work our fingers to the nubs.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

Those are the ones that most of the articles say are safe. I sell equipment to the government, but their budgets have been decimated. This is a very slow quarter (had a good end of the year). They get really nasty if nothing is sold in the month---never mind that the sales are big during the end of their fiscal years and with the city, beginning of the new fiscal year (July). If I get pushed out, so be it. They're firing like crazy, attempting to get someone new to bring in new contacts, that old throw it against the wall and see if it sticks theory.  :-)

I'm as secure as generally can be expected in today's economy.  That being said, I count my blessings, and don't count on anything being unchangeable.  Unfortunately, a significant portion of my compensation has eroded, with the nearly complete elimination of overtime.  Thankfully, I never lived on OT, and just count my blessings that I have what I do.

I think everyone is pinching pennies like crazy.  I know we've been told to OK every order with a department manager, and we're putting off some avoidable expenses for now.

Here's hoping you don't get pushed out...unless there's a fantastic new possibility around the next corner!!

I honestly thought my job was pretty stable, but after seeing next week's schedule tonight, I'm not so sure now.  I have done everything I can to make myself indispensable to my bosses, but they don't seem to notice. I cover for other folks, when they fall behind on the jobs assigned to them, I have not called in sick once the entire time I've worked for this company,  I come in on my days off to do some extra work, etc.  I don't know what else to do, since all the slackers are being rewarded with extra hours, while MINE get cut.  I've got an interview with another company coming up (I'm trying to get a second job), and if they offer me better hours, or even full-time... I'm gone from the current employer and will never return.

As long as Brock thinks our military needs the best equipment, I.e., stuff that needs to be certified and accredited before it connects to the NIPR or SIPR, I'm good to go.

I feel my job(supplements and nutrition) is holding steady. Most people take care of they health. The owners have talked about saling two or three times. But if someone else buys,I feel my experience will keep my job. And if it falls through, there is another store in town that has contacted me to come to work for them. I've never had to worry about work, because if I can't find a job with someone, I'll start my own, one way or another. What a world.

Same boat--My wife is getting ready to move from a 0.6 part time position to a 0.8 position in nursing.

I'm at a private school (snow day, w00t), and next year's numbers look ok, for now, at least.
