What? :-) a glove factory?

Dixie has only had one glass of wine tonight :-)

it was a sheepish attempt at one of those sayings that shoot across the internets. :-)

I think it is already great fun.  Take any of this stuff too seriously and either suffer from melancholy or become a fanatic.

Obama is a great clown name too!  That O screams fake clown nose :manipulated:

There's an old saying I came across a long time ago:

If we must be screwed, can't we at least choose our own way of being screwd?  Some are ways fun!

I have a better one:  "life is a tragedy to those that feel, but a comedy to those that think."

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

a valid point.  I don't guess he never did the shoulder gesture before he had the SS behind him . . . .

He's had a security detail for a long time.  The shoulder grab was like one dog pinning another dog as a sign of dominance.  He was saying : This is MY house and no reporter is going to step out of line here.

If Bush had done the same the reporter would have pressed charges.

You bet, POTUSBO intended to intimidate that reporter. For him to put his hand on a stranger's shoulder and look him in the eyes as he did is way out of line--but especially in a setting like he and the reporter found themselves.

You know that, possibly, worse is coming, too, from Obama This guy's ALWAYS been way way way too calm and collected.

Recall this, back June 2008: Acciording to Roll Call:

"In a move that could further imperil his already weakened status in the Democratic Caucus and fuel talk about his split loyalties, Sen. Joe Lieberman (ID-Conn.) Wednesday [June 3 or 4, 2008] took center stage in the GOP’s mounting attacks on the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, Sen. Barack Obama (Ill.).

"Lieberman participated in a media conference call Wednesday morning organized by House Minority Chief Deputy Whip Eric Cantor (R-Va.) criticizing Obama’s stance on the Middle East.

"Lieberman’s criticisms came in response to Obama’s speech before the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, which was his first major address after claiming his party’s nomination late Tuesday night.

"Furthermore, during a Senate vote Wednesday, Obama dragged Lieberman by the hand to a far corner of the Senate chamber and engaged in what appeared to reporters in the gallery as an intense, three-minute conversation.

"While it was unclear what the two were discussing, the body language suggested that Obama was trying to convince Lieberman of something and his stance appeared slightly intimidating.

"Using forceful, but not angry, hand gestures, Obama literally backed up Lieberman against the wall, leaned in very close at times, and appeared to be trying to dominate the conversation, as the two talked over each other in a few instances
."

POTUSBO's a megalomaniac who cannot and will not tolerate anyone not playing by his rules, whatever they may be, or challenging him. And now he's got taxpayer guards to protect him while he behaves so? Please.

Looking forward to Obama refusing to answer questions and storming out of news conferences, as he did during the primaries.
"It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians not on religions, but on the gospel of Jesus Christ! For this very reason, peoples of other faiths have been afforded asylum, prosperity and freedom of worship here." -- Patrick Henry, 1765

It would probably mean that the Secret Service would drop me like a bad habit, but if Dear Leader EVER put a hand on me like that, it would take a miracle to permit him to draw back anything more than a bloody stump.

There is a pressure point on the back of the hand that can work wonders as way of saying "don't do that again"

LBJ did this kind of leaning in, too, but I think LBJ could pull it off. The country has changed, and people don't like domineering politicians. Even the left will push back against this sort of thing.

Obviously, Obama has a thin skin, just like Clinton before him. He expects everyone to like him, and he is frustrated if they do not. The bad news is that people will manipulate him, using his tendencies against him. Among others, Putin will play him like a violin. And the country will lose.  :(

Ummm....not sure if this should be noted....but the reporter was white. Wonder what would have happened had the Prez been white and the reporter black. Would there have been cries of KKK-type intimidation?

Folks one thing we're all forgetting one thing...the base that got him into office will cheer a move like this.

Remember we're talking about people who think CNN is right wing and that NPR is "center leaning right".

They'll never see it for what it really is.  And that poor reporters brethren in the MSM will blame him and not the person they should.

I was taught in "management 101" that shoulders were off limits.  if you just HAVE to be a touchy-feely person, the elbows were the only place that you can touch without getting into trouble.

touching a shoulder COULD be just a gesture of camaraderie, but it could also be intentioned to intimidate.

Bingo.

LBJ had a style of intimidation that was all his own.

He'd call in a select few people into the restroom, and while he was actually taking a dump, he'd continue discussing the matter at hand. The whole idea was to illustrate his own roughness and his own lack of tact, just to make a political point.

Dear Leader would rather physically intimidate by using other methods.

Somehow, LBJ comes off as being more human. At least you KNEW where the stink was coming from. With Obama, it's not so obvious.

For some reason Black Panthers tactics come to mind here while reading this.

I've always been very wary of people who are just a bit too polished and sauvy.
Underneath he has that ragin Kenyon, Black Pather, corrupt Chicago blood boiling.
He's had to smile and be nice and calm to everyone for almost 2 years during the
campaign. I think this will be just the tip of the iceberg. I feel for those who have
to work close to him.

"Angry black guy" doesn't get votes.  Just ask Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton.
