Wow.

Quote
Caroline Kennedy has told Gov. David Paterson that she is withdrawing her name from consideration to replace outgoing Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton in the U.S. Senate, The Post has learned.

Kennedy cited "personal reasons," according to sources......

I don't see how she could be any worse than Al Franken or Robert Byrd.

Of course, New York State has about 7 million people who are more qualified.  It is good that the governor will choose one of them.

Gov. David Paterson wasn't going to choose her,...

Sources said the reason Paterson had decided not to tap the daughter of John F. Kennedy was her poor performances in media interviews and in in private sessions with various officials.

He wasn't going to pick her and she took it personally

Wow.

She has never been a lime light Kennedy.  I think she was coerced into it and when things started heating up she washed her hands of it.  I don't think she ever really wanted it in the first place.

Wow, finally, a smart Kennedy.

I agree.

Good for her for understanding her place in history is as her dad's daughter and nothing more.  her uncle should have realized that but the Massidiots are pretty thick in the head.

Caroline, you have my respect today and I am sure your Dad is smiling.  "Politics honey?  Just leave it be and live a life of joy."

I know how these things work in Kennedy World.  Caroline wasn't going to get the nod, so Patterson, being an already damaged democrat, offered her the courtesy of withdrawing.

Kennedys don't lose.  They withdraw for "personal reasons".

And hopefully those personal reasons will result in zero Kennedys in politics while you and I are still alive.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. bingo.  or, he wasn't going to pick her, and he gave her the opportunity to withdraw before he named cuomo so she could preserve her dignity.

Person close to Kennedy decision: She's in race

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - After wavering briefly, Caroline Kennedy renewed her determination Wednesday to win appointment to the U.S. Senate seat once held by her slain uncle, Bobby Kennedy, a person close to the decision said.

After her surviving uncle, Sen. Edward Kennedy, suffered a seizure on Inauguration Day, Caroline Kennedy had misgivings about taking on the new job, the person said, speaking to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity because he wasn't authorized to speak for Kennedy. Earlier in the day, The New York Times and New York Post reported that Kennedy had ended her monthlong bid to succeed Hillary Rodham Clinton, who was confirmed as secretary of state.

MSNBC also reported that a person close to Kennedy denied that she was out of the running.

Spokesmen for Caroline Kennedy and for Gov. David Paterson, who will make the appointment to fill the Clinton seat, wouldn't comment.

The hours of mixed signals were the latest twist in the Kennedy effort, which began with popular support that withered after she drew criticism in her brief tour and early press interviews.

Despite Conflicting Reports, Princess Of Camelot Informs Gov. Paterson She Is Withdrawing From Consideration
Cuomo, Suozzi, Maloney, Israel Catapulted To Head Of Pack

There was complete confusion Wednesday night over whether or not Caroline Kennedy had dropped her bid for Hillary Clinton's U.S. Senate seat.

However, late Wednesday night Kennedy confirmed an earlier New York Post report by releasing a statement saying she is removing herself as a candidate for the now vacant New York Senate seat.

"I informed Gov. Paterson today that for personal reasons I am withdrawing my name from consideration for the United States Senate," Kennedy said in a statement obtained by CBS 2 HD.

This should put an end to confusion surrounding her status. It started with numerous reports of Kennedy's withdrawal that later turned into a lot of 11th-hour back-pedaling.

Two sources, including one very close to Kennedy, told CBS 2 HD late Wednesday that the Post's earlier story may have been a mistake.

We already have one inexperienced person that was in the Senate (and now running the country..... God help us!), so Kennedy's dropping out was so out of style by now.
