New White House site slams Bush

The new White House website unveiled by President Barack Obama’s team Tuesday includes a shot at former President Bush’s response to Hurricane Katrina.

Under the “agenda” portion of the site regarding Katrina, it reads: “President Obama will keep the broken promises made by President Bush to rebuild New Orleans and the Gulf Coast. He and Vice President Biden will take steps to ensure that the federal government will never again allow such catastrophic failures in emergency planning and response to occur.”

“President Obama swiftly responded to Hurricane Katrina,” the statement on the site continues. “Citing the Bush Administration’s ‘unconscionable ineptitude’ in responding to Hurricane Katrina, then-Senator Obama introduced legislation requiring disaster planners to take into account the specific needs of low-income hurricane victims.”

The site also points out that Obama “visited thousands of Hurricane survivors in the Houston Convention Center and later took three more trips to the region” and worked with the Congressional Black Caucus to help rebuild in the aftermath of Katrina.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

What? Wait a minute. Wasn't Joe "the Gaffe" Biden one of those that voted against funneling the funds from "the bridge to nowhere" to New Orleans?

Obama actually has a lot of folks buffaloed into believing Obama is a uniter, the new way. Problem is if you read anything about and/or by Obama you also read about Obama backstabbing someone. His fav target of late has been President Bush.
It is said that branches draw their life from the vine. Each is separate yet all are one as they share one life giving stem . The Bible tells us we are called to a similar union in life, our lives with the life of God. We are incorporated into him; made sharers in his life. Apart from this union we can do nothing.

And family members and friends.

Such a person doesn't really have "friends." He has people who his handlers can use and those they cannot.  The latter -- adios.

you know, I almost hated to make this observation, but the Obama Era certainly has wrought havoc on the dem caucus in the senate.  obama, biden, and clinton all came to the executive branch.  kennedy and byrd are, let's face it, facing uncertain futures.

not that the dem majority is in jeopardy, or will even change at all.  but the senate, which sometimes seems to never change, has changed a good bit pretty quickly recently.

and if al freakin' franken makes it into the senate, it will really get interesting.  lots of newbies and weirdos being led around by that doddering old man, harry reid.

I am pretty sure slamming the prior administration is unprecedented.

But who cares about tradition or decor when there is a (D) after your name?

From the Illinois State Senate?  How?

he had actually been a US senator for all of 7 months or so when Katrina hit.   :whatever:

here's the full desription of his Katrina heroism.  he gave speeches and stuff.

Quote
Katrina

President Obama will keep the broken promises made by President Bush to rebuild New Orleans and the Gulf Coast. He and Vice President Biden will take steps to ensure that the federal government will never again allow such catastrophic failures in emergency planning and response to occur.

President Obama swiftly responded to Hurricane Katrina. Citing the Bush Administration's "unconscionable ineptitude" in responding to Hurricane Katrina, then-Senator Obama introduced legislation requiring disaster planners to take into account the specific needs of low-income hurricane victims. Obama visited thousands of Hurricane survivors in the Houston Convention Center and later took three more trips to the region. He worked with members of the Congressional Black Caucus to introduce legislation to address the immediate income, employment, business, and housing needs of Gulf Coast communities.

President Barack Obama will partner with the people of the Gulf Coast to rebuild now, stronger than ever.

Obama "introduced legislation." Obama "visited thousands of Hurricane survivors" and "later took three more trips to the region." Obama "worked with members" of the black caucus. Such stunning bravery! Such wisdom! Such leadership! He is my hero. [/sarcasm]

I despair of not only Obama, but any president, if they demonstrate such ignorance about the causes of that debacle, namely, the mayor's and governor's responses to the hurricane, and, prior to that, the failure of local government to prepare for such an eventuality in advance. (New Orleans is in a potential hurricane zone? Who knew?)

When the hell did it become the federal government's responsibility to rebuild the damn gulf coast and New Orleans?  :censored:
