Carters snub Clintons at inaugural
« on: January 20, 2009, 02:13:47 PM »
http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/2009/01/carter-snubs-cl.html

Oh my.

Quote
.....One small example: as the ex-Presidents gathered in the crypt of the Capitol preparing to head out to the platform, a chilly day got a bit chillier as the Carters and the Clintons were forced to occupy the same cramped space.

Former Democratic President Jimmy Carter appeared to greet former Republican President George H.W. Bush and his wife warmly, kissing Barbara Bush on the cheek.  But as Carter passed fellow Democrats Bill and Hillary Clinton, the two men did not appear to acknowledge each others presence at all. A total snub.

Quote
.....Relations between the Carters and the Clintons have reportedly been frosty for years, dating back to 1980, when Carter’s landslide defeat to Ronald Reagan may have cost Clinton the Arkansas governor’s mansion.  At least that’s what Clinton reportedly believed.

In the 90s Clinton was said to resent some of Carter’s freelance diplomacy.  Carter, for his part, spared no criticism of Clinton during the Monica Lewinsky scandal.

Recently, during a photo opportunity at the Oval Office, following a lunch with Barack Obama and the ex-Presidents, Clinton and Carter stood next to one another, but miles apart.  Obama stood between the two Presidents Bush.

There's a couple of videos of the snubbing at the link too.

If you ask me Jimmy Cartrer should hang his head in shame in the presense of any former presidents.

carter didn't come right out and say so, but he tacitly endorsed BHO during the primaries in early april, which was awfully early.

If they are all still alive, I bet both Carter and Clinton will snubbing and being frosty to Obama the next time they're all together.

It just shows how petty and hate-filled that party is.  No matter what, they hate each other only slightly less than they hate us.

Talk about harboring a grudge for nearly 30 years. Jimmy Carter is the worst President, even worse than Clinton.

I think that more than anything else, it shows how incredibly thin skinned the clintons are.  Hillary Clinton is (or will be) the Sec'y of State, arguably the third or fourth most powerful person in the federal government, and jimmah carter is an asterisk in the pages of history.  and a small asterisk at that.

but they still can't let it go.

Being thin-skinned is a very bad trait in a Secretary of State. I am sure Putin, Chavez, et al will play her like a violin. And we will all lose.  :(

I agree.   Jimmy needs to pass on this invitations.

Maybe Larry Flynt can stand in for Jimmy as an FOB (Friend of Bill) next time around.

Flynt and Clinton have much in common.

Well Jimmy is just shy of 85 yrs old. I don't imagine there are to many more Presidential Inaugurations in his future.

Thank God for small miracles...

Now, if we could only pull his passport to keep that loose cannon from requiring more foreign policy damage control on account of his mouth.

I think this is more about Bill's ego and Hillary's manaical win-at-all-costs attitude more than it's about Jimmuh getting his nose bent out of shape.

Carter was a horrible president. But the Clintons have the blood of their enemies (real and imagined) on their shoes.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

It just shows how petty and hate-filled that party is.  No matter what, they hate each other only slightly less than they hate us.

Whereas the Bushes, and of course Reagan, are the epitome of class and dignity.  When the cause was good, GHW Bush teamed up with clinton to raise funds (and, FWIU became friends).  And even the MSM, which hates W, has admitted that he has been gracious and classy in his transition to the new fuhrer.

RR was known as being a very gracious and humble host.  Which amazed many who saw him as a God -- or close.  His humility and humor are legendary.

The modern democratic presidents are known for none of these. And it won't get better with the fuhrer, who thinks he is above everyone.
