Yep--heard them a lot in the early 80's.  They're also the band that does the cover of "Wild Thing" towards the end of the first Major League movie when Charlie Sheen's character comes out of the bullpen.

Dude, he's retired Navy.  Probably still thinks that the stuff they played in the CPO lounge is all the music that exists.  There were a couple of the Chiefs when I was on the tender who had a none-too-flattering name for the CPO mess/lounge.

I saw them in LA.  I LOVED "X"  Well, still do.  They were one of the quintessential LA punk bands that started the movement out there.  I grew up in the LA area and I love their music.  John Doe and Exeme.  Yeah...those were good times going to those gigs.

Same here.  For anyone not familiar with the early 80's punk scene in LA, I highly recommend the documentary "The Decline of Western Civilization".  While it does miss a few of the bands which were part of the scene, it hits a LOT of the influential bands of the time/genre, including Black Flag, Circle Jerks, X, Germs, and Alice Bag Band.

BTW Tess--try going to 688 in Atlanta in the mid-80's.  THAT was awesome (saw the Dead Kennedys there when I was going to school.)  Ditto for Faith & Physics in Orlando, where I saw Jane's Addiction in the 1987-88 timeframe.

Holy crap!  Very cool!

There was this little "hole in the wall" place called The Coach House down in OC  (not to be confused with that stupid show that is nothing like the location)  every once in a while if you hit it right you would get  X or Buzzcocks or Circle Jerks play and really punk out.  I saw Social Distortion there a few times as well.  This was back when they were a real punk band and not the sellout they became in the past 10 years.  I do have to say that Ness' solo albums are pretty good.   I saw Stray Cats there too.  That place rocked because it wasn't known by the fringe listeners.

I can be such a music snob sometimes...

I was wondering because I did a search for them on a few sites and couldn't find a THING. I've got six of their  23 albums ripped to my PC. So........ if any of y'all are looking for some of their tunes..... PM me.

The one in San Juan Cap?  Yeah, I heard of it...  :bow:

I didn't go to HS or college in OC, but after I got out of the Navy I moved to HB (Huntington Beach) and then to Fountain Valley when we bought our first house.  While it's nice to be able to see concerts at all anymore, I miss the smaller more intimate settings where fire marshalls start to freak out if you've got more than 500 people in the club.

BTW--Just looked it up--you just missed Eric Johnson at the Coach House.

Yes, San Juan.  That place kicked ass.  I saw plenty of bands there.  I mainly grew up in Anaheim.  Moved around from the time I was born till 7 and that is where my family finally settled (pretty much).  Then, when I got married we stayed in Brea till about 5 years ago.  I agree about how great the more intimate settings.  My husband and I have found some really cool little clubs around here and are pretty watchful of our favorite groups that come through.  I do prefer those so much more to large concerts.
