The short answer is, no. But then again, I don't spend a lot of time on the phone and I customarily wait for a least two rings before answering.

More often than not, I wait for the machine to pick it up. For obvious reasons.  :censored:

Absolutely.  People really wonder what's going on, when they call your house and the first thing out of your mouth is an office, rank, name and the phrase "This is not a secure line."

Now that would be a bit disconcerting.

No, not my real work anyway.
I usually answer the phone with "French Mortuary".
Strangers don't call back.

 :lmao: :rotf:

yeah, but do you say it in French?

That's hilarious. :-)

My short answer is 'yes'.  Hell, I've done it at the drive-through.  The problems begin when you start having dreams about being at work.

I started doing it years ago in Albuquerque, where there actually was a French Mortuary.
I think it was run by Mexicans.

Isn't everything in Albuquerque run by Mexicans?

No, but since we have caller ID it's fun to screw with my wife. I've answered "Murphy's Bar and Grill" or my fav "speak". Gets her every time.  :lmao:

From the Spanish phrase 'digame'. It sounds fine in Spanish, in English it sounds a tad rude.

I remember a movie some years ago about some tough guy wannabe whose answering machine commanded, "SPEAK!" as an intro.

That kinda intro might even rattle a telemarketer.

Nah. No way.

Considering the security edicts over where I work (and the fact that because of those edicts, I answer the phone "hello" at work) I answer the phone "hello" at both places.

That or: "Bob's Buckets of Bolts.  Louie Speaking."; "Paco's Tacos.  'dis is Ingrid"; or "Mort's Mortuary.  You stab 'em we slab 'em.  Would you like to hear about our group rates?"

Yes, I used to work for a business interiors company in Phoenix.  It became 2nd nature to say the company name when I answered the phone.

Actually, it reminds me of that first host of "Cheaters" who always answered the phone with, "Talk to me, Gomez!"

We had portable handsets for our work phone and they looked similar to the mobile phone I had at the time. Thus I nearly answered my work phone with my standard mobile phone greeting . "Hello , this is Kremlin , Boris speaking" ...done in a *really* bad Russian accent. I got all the way through "Hello, This is Kremlin" before realizing.

I have, but it was much funnier when my grandmother did it.

She worked for a funeral home.

I did that a time or two when I was on active duty.
