The idea is this:

If we want to push the new Administration in a positive direction, we avoid using the term "protest", which won't really be appropriate in the new context, but instead we phrase the events we'll need to hold as "encouragement" events or something like that. It's not about being "against", it's about "pushing further" and "expanding the space".

If we can perfect this, we can make activism in the post January 20th environment have a new and much more effective activity.

I like the way it was phrased in a recent TIKKUN article, when they used the phrase "Support Obama to BE Obama".

This makes our position "Active Loyalty".

And it makes our objective helping Obama succeed, because his chances of political success are only going to be enhanced by moving in the direction we as progressives will be pushing for.

So far none of the other retards have joined in this latest Big Zero gush fest.  I plan to hold a "hope rally" next Tuesday at the gun range.  I hope all my rifles are still dialed in after moving the to Colorado.  That is all.   :evilbird:

2. No...I'm trying to create a new phraseology for the changed conditions.  Something that will keep events in which we call on the Administration to change things from being dismissed as "bashing".

If "Hope Rallies" doesn't work, I'm not married to that and I hope people can come up with other suggestions.  The idea is to find a new term that encompasses the idea of using the newly-opened space for discussion and dissent.

They can call them "Hope" rallies and then we can beat them with our "Anti social behaviour discouragement" batons and unleash the "Fuzzy police persons of other species" on them before hauling them off for weekend encounter sessions with "Economically challenged love partners" at the county "Big stone building for those who have been naughty but are still human beings too".
