UPDATE: Suspect sought in slaying of woman, 4 children

By TIM TALLEY
Associated Press Writer

EL RENO, Okla. (AP) — A woman and her four young children were killed in their central Oklahoma apartment, and authorities were looking for a 25-year-old suspect Tuesday.

An officer went to the apartment to check on the welfare of the occupants and found the five bodies shortly after 4 p.m. Monday, said Jessica Brown, a spokeswoman for the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation. The children ranged in age from 3 to 7.

Details on cause of death were not being released pending work by the state Medical Examiner’s office, Brown said. Cherokee Ballard, a spokeswoman for the medical examiner, only would confirm the deaths were homicides.

Joshua Steven Durcho of El Reno was being sought as a suspect in the case. A family member identified him as the slain woman’s boyfriend. Officers also were looking for the woman’s missing vehicle, a 1989 white Ford Thunderbird...

EL RENO, Okla. —  A man being sought in connection with the deaths of an Oklahoma woman and her four young children was captured in Texas on Tuesday night after a car accident, authorities said.

Joshua Steven Durcho, 25, was taken into custody in Texas' Hamilton County, said Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Jessica Brown.

A Texas Department of Public Safety communications officer in Waco, who declined to give his name, said Durcho was injured in a one-vehicle accident. Authorities checking his identity determined he was wanted by Oklahoma authorities.

Prosecutors earlier Tuesday charged Durcho with five counts of first-degree murder after an El Reno police officer conducting a welfare check found Summer Garas, 25, and her four children dead in her apartment Monday afternoon. The children ranged in age from 3 to 7...

Good, they got this murderous bastard before he could make it to the Mexican border and his body count didn't increase leading to his capture.

I dunno. It might have been good to have the body count go up by one. His.

The horrific crime and aftermath associated with the family aside, this would've turned out acceptably if the punk had offed himself. Now, the taxpayers of Oklahoma have to front the expense of trying this bastard, while feeding and clothing and providing him medical and dental care.

This is one of those cases where, if he's found guilty, he needs to go meet his Maker post haste.

Why does it take 20 years or more to dispose of these vermin?   :argh:
