Flippin' fantastical Friday...
« on: January 09, 2009, 07:50:11 AM »
What's new and exciting??

Cold here today, of course, since I need to clean out my car.   Going to spend my day jamming to music and cleaning.

My daughter's boyfirned is coming over for 1/2 tonight after she is done with dance...they haven't seen each other in a whole week!  :whatever:
She won't be home until about 9:15, and he's outta here by 10, so I'm not sure it's worth the 20 minute drive, but, whatever.  I have to kick her butt outta bed at 5:00 tomorrow morning, so a late night is out!

Hoping the weather/roads aren't too bad on my 3+ hour drive in the morning to the summer school audition...I hate driivng in crappy weather!

Egads...just checked a friend of my daughter's Myspace page (it's a private page, but I am one of her friends).   Her status is listed as Engaged.  She's been dating this boy for a year.  She turns 15 next month. He's 18.  Guess I"ll need to have my daughter get the scoop on if it's a real engagement or just her messing around.

Should be officially set to start subbing after the school board meeting next week.  Hoping I can get enough "gigs" to pay for dance stuff!

Just realized baseball sign-ups are next month...that was a fast break!

It was clear and 15 F this morning in Albany.  Usually, I get sick of snow about January 15th.  This season, it was December 15th, not even officially winter yet, when I was done with it.  We're supposed to get 3"-6" tomorrown night, then another batch Monday night into Tuesday. :censored: :censored: :censored:

Spring-like temps here this afternoon, then back in the fridge for at least a week, probably more like two, before any more relief.  Your typical Ozark winter weather.  No major snow or ice in the forecast, at least!

Yippee.... broke down and called the hairdresser to get my hair corrected.   :banghead: Getting it fixed late this afternoon. I guess the good news is it is correctable and it won't cost the National Debt only because the ND is in the stratosphere.  :censored:

The sun is out, it's warming up to the low 40's and it's a beautiful day in the neighborhood. I was in the living room about an hour ago, and last summer's baby deer went waltzing through the front yard. There are six of them, 2 singles and 2 sets of twins. They apparently have decided to hang out together even though there are 2 males. One of them was much smaller than the rest, she has to be from the late set of twins. They showed up a good month or more after the others were born. Be interesting to see how many babies we have this summer. We have 6 or 7 older females that roam around the neighborhood and 2 bucks. We worry that someone will poach them. :(

It is said that branches draw their life from the vine. Each is separate yet all are one as they share one life giving stem . The Bible tells us we are called to a similar union in life, our lives with the life of God. We are incorporated into him; made sharers in his life. Apart from this union we can do nothing.

First day of my weekend.  A very well earned weekend.  Work was stupidly busy this week.  Did an entire months worth of briefings in 3 days.

Didn't get to sleep in today.  Had to be up early to take my dog to get spayed.  Will have to go back to get her in about 4 hours.  Also get to have a nice long talk with the vet about why the price went up $80 from when we did the prescreening.

Had computer training at 0630 this morning......jeez, I'm not a morning person. I am being used as a guinea pig for the "new", updated computerized field reporting system. Problem is, I was at theTask Force when they started the "old" computer system, so I don't even know how to use THAT one. Then, on Wednesday, I'll be going to work for a new supervisor that just got promoted. He's spent all but a year and a half of his carrer in Community Services, so we're going to have to break him in right in Patrol. Awesome guy, but it's going to be a steep learing curve considering he hasn't been in the Patrol Division in at least 12 years. But, hey, at least I'm out of that damned office. For anyone unaware, Detective work is about 10% fun punctuated by about 90% mind-numbing paperwork. It's not hurting my feelings any going back to the street.

I did something dumbass last night. My laptop is in the garage on my workbench with a space heater set up next to it. I was catching up on some TV online and I was sitting for a couple of hours. The temps went way low outside andt he space heater didn't keep up and I didn't realize I was overly cold until I started nodding a bit and stood up to go get some coffee to shake the cobwebs and my legs buckled and I started shivering. Mild hypothermia. :p

I went in and warmed up as best I could but I had MISERABLE sleep last night (Maybe an hour) and it wasn't until this afternoon that I really felt warmed up. Slept most of today and I feel like someone beat me with a bag of nickles.

And naturally when I am feeling this crappy there is a big fire south of here and we are running an active shelter for 25-28 people whose apartments burned at about 3am. I am waiting to find out what I am going to be doing for the next two days right now. On a plus note if I am working a shelter I don't have to go to my wife's boss' house... LOLOLOL!
I just got a phone call as I was typing that that the shelter is standing down, so I have to put on dressy clothes and mingle with the swells tomorrow. :-)

Today wasn't so good here... well, not for me, anyway.  Mine was okay, as I got some extra hours for tomorrow.

I found out that my boss is stepping down from her position for a less strenuous one, due to the confirmation of her having MS. :(

Also, a co-worker got sick, and an ambulance was called out.  He's fine, but he'd been getting really dizzy and nauseated and looked close to passing out, so the store manager called 911 just in case.   The co-worker didn't go anywhere after that... he stayed in the breakroom for awhile, snacking on a muffin.  Paramedics checked him out, and said he was okay, just dehydrated.   After he went back to work (crazy old man that he is :p ), we were all swapping ambulance stories.  Don't get me started on mine, because I'm sure some folks here just ate. LOL

I had the same issue last night.  I got home from an outting and just got really light headed and dizzy.  I wasn't dehydrated, I had eaten plenty, I got no idea what the problem was.  It was so bad I couldn't even carry my son upstairs.  I laid down in bed, and went to sleep, and woke up feeling just fine.

Got no clue what the issue was.

I've had days like that too.  Last week, I was feeling that way (it was NOT affiliated with my current health problem...doctor said it was unrelated).  A co-worker gave me some Tylenol and I sat in the break room for a few minutes, then went back to work.

The store manager was especially concerned because this particular employee is in his 70's.  I hadn't seen how it all started, but seeing that stretcher being brought into the store made a lot of us extremely anxious and scared.  No one wants to see that happen to someone who is a valued colleague and friend. I'm sure there was a collective sigh of relief among us all when the stretcher was brought back out of the breakroom, with him NOT on it.  Where I work, there's definitely a family-vibe among the employees, so when one is ill, we are all affected in some way.

3.5 hours and $100 plus a $25 tip and I'm back to having my normal copper colored hair!!! :-) :-) :-)

It wasn't pretty what all she did, I have to go back in 2 weeks to have highlights put in, I won't be doing my own hair color for a while, but at least my hair is still healthy and not breaking off (even though I washed it 4 times with industrial strength antibacterial Dawn)....I'm such a happy camper!
