Perry Como primitive doesn't like spicy foods

Oh my.

Hey, does anyone know what "perragrande" means in English?

I googled it, and came up dry.

I suspect it means "large dog," but am not sure.

The "Perry Como primitive" doesn't sound right for this primitive.

Pet Peeve: "Oh but it's not spicy, it's not hot. Eat it!"

GRRRRRRR!

I cannot eat spicy food. I am allergic to the nightshade family, like bell peppers, tomatoes, spicy peppers, and such.

I used to eat pizza in high school with everything on it but pepperoni. It came back up about an hour later. Ick.

I had a former mother in law who cooked everything in grease and it was quite spicy.
I went to her house, took one bite, and ran to the sink to get a glass of water.

The stupid cow just looked at me like there was something wrong with ME.

Some people (here in Texas) assume that because they like hot stuff, everyone likes hot stuff, and can eat it. Nope.

I don't eat stringy, fatty meat either. And I'm allergic to shellfish as well.

Once I was at some peoples' house who said they had some takeout Chinese. It was takeout from P.F. Chang's. I had one bite of each of 3 or 4 things, and could not eat any of it.

Just from a few bites, I belched and burped all night. It was most unpleasant. I had to raid the fridge all night for glasses of milk.

People who urge me to eat spicy stuff don't know what they're saying. Eating spicy stuff really is BAD for me. Food allergies are no laughing matter either.

7. My dad was allergic to tomatoes, like I am.

He couldn't eat pizza either.

And didn't like spicy food. Guess I inherited that from him.

Mom was always trying to get me to try raw onions and bell peppers. GAK!!

Didn't work.

However, I love onions sauteed in butter. They are yummy.

Grandma was the worst. She was a terrible cook (from Mississippi -- boiled everything to death) and I don't think she cooked anything I could eat. Maybe potatoes and iceberg lettuce. She only served "greens", never raw spinach or broccoli. We had pitched battles over everything she served at her house, three times a day. She thought she was running a prison. The girls were all forced to march around the kitchen 3 times a day to "help" her fix meals. The kitchen is too small for more than one person to scurry. The important thing was to dominate and oppress all the females, to make sure they know what their place is.
She cooked stringy, crappy meat too.

When I eat things I am allergic to, the next day I feel horrible and have to stay in bed. I feel like I've been run over.

11. Because they are nosy assholes.

Some people just can't handle people who are DIFFERENT from them in any way.

I had some inlaws get MAD at me when I said "I'm not going to eat so much that I get SICK FROM IT!!!" after they urged me to get a second plateful at Thanksgiving.

28. I had told her several times previously.

And so had her daughter (my sister in law).

What I heard back: "Well, if she can't eat red pepper, we can put black pepper in it."

I don't know if she was wilfully ignoring me or just too damned stupid to change.

She was from Nebraska.

57. I think I'm with ya!!

My dad was from NE Ohio, mom was from East TX, but neither of them ate spicy stuff.

It's amazing how hard it can be to get plain old American food, as I call it.

My daughter has tried to get me to try sushi. It still tastes like raw fish to me.

If I walk by my BF who is eating smoked oysters, the merest whiff of it will make me gag.

He goes outside to eat them.

58. I had a bad reaction from some Chili's nachos not long ago.

I got beef and cheese nachos with no hot peppers on them.

I thought that would be ok. I was wrong.

I don't know what kind of yucky spice they had in them, but all night I was up and my guts were rumbling.

For someone with so many eating disorders, one wonders how the Perry Como primitive managed to acquire the incredible bulk she has.

If a person truly has this much trouble with food allergies or issues then they will have to resign themselves to the fact that they are going to have to cook for themselves what they can eat and live with it.

I have no doubt that this is all in her feeble mind and is another example of her life of self pity and bitching.

Methinks it is simply too sensitive ... in all areas.  Someone offers it to get second helpings (at Thanksgiving no less ... very common) and it has a fit?

This is one of those people who simply walk through life miserable because everyone is out to get it in some form or fashion.  No one understands it and they don't understand it on purpose.  All the misunderstandings are malicious.

I would hate to meet this person.

"Perra grande" would be "Big Bitch," Frank.  The generic Spanish word for dog is perro (a masculine noun), perra would be the specifically female version of it.  I have assumed in other threads that this means the DUmmie in question is female but I suppose it could mean it's the "Catcher" rather than the "Pitcher" in whatever messed-up co-dependent relationship it keeps, I have encountered gay men who in all seriousness refer to themselves as the 'wife' and the other male partner as the 'husband.'

I'd lay money that it's allergic to peanuts and one of the reasons you can no longer have them on planes or in schools.

My nephew is allergic to peanuts, and there's no joking around about that.  They were hoping he would outgrow it after a few years of no peanuts, but it's actually gotten worse.

But, accommodating for peanuts is completely different than saying "I can't have any peppers, including black pepper."  If it's that severe you need to bring your own food I'd think.

If she really is allergic to peppers and tomatoes she better lay off the Spike. She should check the label next time she goes to the store as she could be inviting disaster. Imagine the disaster to find out it's all in her head.

A woman who was in my office once started to scold me for bringing a meal containing peppers to a potluck (Italian sausages fried and with sliced onion plus green, yelloy and red bell peppers sliced up and stirred in with the links), she was apparently also allergic to bell peppers like Perragorda (Big Fat Female Dog) but there was no dietary restriction published in advance, and it wasn't for her benefit anyway.  She could see the peppers perfectly damned well, and it was up to her stay the Hell out of them.  I blew her off completely.

Mia,  I know that peanut allergies are no joke but I gotta tell ya; I can't believe how far society (American) will bend over for the few.  If a kid can't have peanuts then they don't get peanuts but some of these schools have banned peanut butter.  How can you tell 1,000 kids they can't have peanut butter at school because there are 3 students who are highly allergic?

And yes, I'm aware of the difference of what you posted.  Just wanted to explain in more detail what I was talking about.

I smell a food bouncy.

She knows of her food allergies, yet WILLINGLY indulges in nachos at Chili's?  Next, bell peppers are NOT, repeat NOT, spicy.  I know lots of people who don't like them, but not based on their heat.  She cries about raw onions and greasy stuff, but "loves onions sauteed in butter".  That's not going to shoot your cholesterol sky-high?  Finally, if sushi smells like "raw fish", well, that's 1--because it IS "raw fish" in most cases, and 2--if it DOES smell, it's not fresh.  Even way up here in NH, there are several good sushi bars, one in particular in downtown Portsmouth which has some of the best sushi I've eaten outside Roppongi.

This one is just playing for sympathy.

I don't eat a lot of foods because I can't eat onions or garlic.  If an onion is cooked way down and in a big dish sometimes I am ok.  If I eat garlic I get so sick I feel like I am dying.  It doesn't last a long time just until every particle of matter has been shot out of one of my orifices.  I just order things plain or only go to places that serve stuff without loading on the garlic.  No big problem.

I am also allergic to peanuts.  Not severely allergic just burning throat, itching mouth, face, and eyes, allergic.  I have several members of my family who believe food allergies are all in your head.  They put peanuts in everything they bake practically.  I just bring my own or don't eat it.  Problem solved.
All the great things are simple, and many can be expressed in a single word: freedom, justice, honor, duty, mercy, hope.
