Magistrate Appreciation Thread

There are so many kind, courteous people here, but I have to just say that The Magistrate is someone who has been so kind to everyone for years and I've never had the common sense to tell him (I am assuming it's a 'him') how much I appreciate his eloquence, civility and intelligence.

He reminds me of my favorite professors. He is patient, knowledgeable, forgiving and kind.

An awesome person here at DU. The Magistrate is another reason it's so gratifying to have found a website like DU.

There's a lot of ass-kissing, including by the lonestarnut primitive, the drunken sot the American Nana primitive, and Doug's ex-wife, but never mind.

61. He IS the magistrate. If he isn't one, he should be.

Even without the "sirs" and "ma'ams" his responses are immediately recognizable for the qualities you stated, eloquence, civility, intelligence, patience, and knowledge. I'll lump forgiving and kind in with civility.

His words are always the words of an intelligent grown-up who thinks before he speaks.

WTH is a southern gentleman doing at the DUmp?

I tend to think of him as an authoritarian dick, who clothes his snottiness in archaic phrasing to get away without being called on it and for a certain smugness factor.

Actually, my hypothesis is reasonable. If franksolich were to infiltrate the DUmp with a sock-puppet, posting crazy, lunatic, leftist drivel, I still think that he would post his crazy, lunatic, leftist drivel as eloquently and politely as he does with his normal stuff here. It's just who franksolich is. :-)

The Magistrate is a blowhard who writes lengthy screeds explaining something when one could just as easily do it in 1/10th of the words he uses and still say it better.  But, he uses a vocabulary that he has to reference either from a book or on-line, and in turn the DUmmies have to reference his posts to see what he was saying, and so they believe him to be brilliant.

In reality, he's the type that when you meet them in the business world, you're trying to stay awake while they're talking because they're boring you to tears, and the only thing you can think about is "You're an idiot.  Get to the point, will ya?"

I have heard that conjecture before, actually.  I never bought it, myself.  I just think there are some vague stylistic similarities.  it just proves that it is possible to be somewhat polite, and still be a barking moonbat. :-)

Not everyone loves The Mag as can be observed on any site where TS'd primitives gather.  Most hold him personally responsible for their banning when he probably only concurred with the suggestion of a banning.

Wonder what prompted this love thread?
