Interesting....mosquito ringtones.
« on: January 05, 2009, 12:59:58 PM »
Ringtones designed so that only the young crowd can hear them (in order to reciever calls, etc, at school and the teachers won't be able to hear the ring).

Anyway, I was playing around with it, and wondered what everyone else could hear.

I could hear the 12khz     50 & Younger, but not anything below that.

How about you?

I could definately hear a tone at the 50 & younger. Everything else I couldn't hear a tone but did sense something. white noise or something like that. A disruption in the force or something.
It is said that branches draw their life from the vine. Each is separate yet all are one as they share one life giving stem . The Bible tells us we are called to a similar union in life, our lives with the life of God. We are incorporated into him; made sharers in his life. Apart from this union we can do nothing.

Weird.  I can hear the 20, 21, & 22khz then nothing at all until the 14khz.

I have tenitus from iresponsible shooting in my younger years. I haven't been able to hear high frequency sounds since I was in my late 20's.

Wow I must have great hearing. I could hear 22khz and hear it still even though it stopped playing 3 minutes ago.  :-) :o

I can hear the ones marked "30 and above", none below.

I think the mosquito ring- tone came about as a social commentary on these things :

There's a movement afoot in the UK to ban the Mosquito, an ultrasonic anti-teenager device that makes sounds in registers that only kids (supposedly) can hear. The Children's Commissioner for England says that the device -- which has been installed in more than 3,500 locations -- violates kids' rights.

My minimum is 18 and younger (where it stops at 21khz), but I'm 24.  I've had super-sharp hearing since birth.  It's more of a pain-in-the-arse than some might think.  I can often hear things that no one else (including those my age and younger) can hear.  I hate going to sleep while listening to this annoying little sound in my ear that never goes away.  :(

Sounds like it's useless for me to even take the test.....I have a constant high pitched ringing in my ears. Farm equipment, trucks, heavy equipment, guns, bombs, industry.....it's a dang wonder I can hear anything.

49  and younger, but I'm glad to see that I'm not alone among the members here suffering from tinnitus.  I live with hearing 3 separate tones in my head.  :mental:

Sometimes I read your posts and think you are me. :-)  It is so weird.  Our kids are in the same things at the same times and stuff.

My 11 year old can hear them all, but I could only hear down to the 15K - 39 and younger...and that only in my right ear.  (Which makes sense, I shot from my left shoulder, and held babies on my left all the time, so it's far more damaged.)  On the other hand, I'm 49, so hearing 15 K isn't bad at all.   :-)

My daughter is going to kill me if I keep playing them...   :lmao:

I can hear all of them except for the 18-under one (the last one).  At least my ears work.

Dammit.  Now I have a headache.

My hearing topped out at 12kHz, which I could barely hear.

There is NO DOUBT my hearing sucks. Too many freakin' gigs, too many trumpets, too many loud-ass snare drums.

I could hear the 14 khz or the 49 and under.   I could sort of hear some of the others but I couldn't really hear them, they made my ears uncomfortable.

My cat apparently could hear them all and didn't like it.
