Philadelphia man shot because family talked during movie
« on: December 27, 2008, 03:52:57 AM »
Quote
A South Philadelphia man enraged because a father and son were talking during a Christmas showing of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button took care of the situation when he pulled a .380-caliber gun and shot the father, police said.
James Joseph Cialella Jr., 29, of the 1900 block of Hollywood Street is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, and weapons violations.

"It's truly frightening when you see something like this evolve into such violence," said police spokesman Lt. Frank Vanore.

Police were called to the Riverview Theatre in the 1400 block of Columbus Boulevard about 9:30 p.m. where the gunshot victim, a Philadelphia man who was not identified, told police a man sitting near him told his family to be quiet and threw popcorn at his son.

Obviously I can't condone this behaviour, but I'm sure many people fantasise about putting an end to talking during movies.

That is why I usually wait until a movie is almost done with its run before I go see it.  I hate hate hate when people talk during movies!

What will really piss you off is going to a teeny bopper type movie.  We took the daughter (14) to go see that Twilight movie .... The theater was almost completely lit up with the damn cell phones.  They were trying to catch the ones who were texting/talking/etc... on the phones to throw them out but that was just about as distracting.

Why if I had had my .357 .....  LOL

I think the shooting is a little drastic.  A simple beating would have sufficed.
This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.

I'm reminded of a quote made by Shephard Book:

I miss drive-ins. Talking during the movie wasn't much of a problem back then.

There are still a few drive-ins scattered around the US.

I am sure there are.  Just not as many or as local as in the good ole days.

I went to a lot of drive-in movies and my lips were always busy - I wasn't always talking though!
