Interesting that of the OP's three starting points, only one was of an economic nature, the other two are just political policy points that are freight loaded onto whatever economic model is ultimately used.

Considering the general refrain of dismal failure, chronic unemployability, and subsistence from the largesse of better-grounded relatives (Living or dead) from the DU membership, I can hardly imagine a less-fit crew to devise "A new economic model."

   Somebody needs to get that idea to Bill Maher and Woody Harrelson, pronto. And NORML. We need figures on the exact amount each state and the feds can save by releasing pot smokers, specifically, and drug users as a whole.

My solution should satisfy both sides of the aisle...I propose we re-institute slavery only not based on race.

If you can conquer and subdue your slave you can own him.

If you allow yourself to be conquered rather than defend yourself or die trying you deserve to be reckoned a slave.

The conservatives would all be powerful, wealthy and secure and the liberals would be fed, clothed, housed and put to better soial use for once in their pathetic half-existences.
