I was here for my schools crappy bowl game the year before katrina.  I was interested to see if things had changed much.

What angle, or where did you take that photo from? Somehow it looks as if you were the only normal sized person in a street full of midgets (to be fair of course I have never been to NO so an abundance of midgets may well have been a feature of the town about which I have not previously heard).

You don't need bars on bourbon street. They sell booze at the photomats.

Oh gawd, I still remember my 8th grade graduation trip to New Orleans.  One night, our chaperones (our TEACHERS) thought it might be fun to take us, a group of 13 and 14 year olds to BOURBON Street.  We did see some, uhhh, rather interesting (interesting to the GUYS in the group, anyway  :whatever: ) sights (aka strip clubs) while we walked.  The girls ignored the guys and went into some of the shops and enjoyed seeing all the voodoo stuff they had.  Then, we went to the back of the store...where all the more risque stuff was kept.  My friends kept messing around with some of the, uh, stuff while I just watched and laughed.   We also saw some street performers, with this one lady dressed up in a vinyl catsuit (as a cat, with the ears and tail), doing all this bending and stretching that shocked even a friend of mine and I (we were both gymnasts at the time).  Then, there was this guy playing an old guitar. He was pretty good, but clearly was in need of some crazy pills. LOL

it's an amazing place.  the holes in the wall open up into cavernous clubs.  they must assess property tax based on the amount of curb space you occupy. :-)

That's similar to what my mom said when we got back from the trip and I told her what occurred.  Before the trip, all that HAD been planned was to go to various historical areas, visit the Tabasco factory and Cafe Du Monde, and other safe activities.  The Bourbon Street outing was a last-minute decision. :lmao:

There was a bar there a long time ago called the Tropical Isle. They sold these drinks called "hand grenades." It was grain alcohol, melon liquor, and some other stuff. I remember drinking two. Things got a little...fuzzy...ater that.

Let nothing trouble you,
Let nothing frighten you.
All things are passing;
God never changes.
Patience attains all that it strives for.
He who has God lacks nothing:
God alone suffices.

Ahhhh....the pictures I have from doing the Duval Crawl during Fantasy Fest..... :naughty:

The first time I went, I brought my pics home to develop at the Walgreen's here, thinking they would be cheaper. They were....they didn't print half of them.

From then on....I got them developed before I left to come home.  :-)
