Blagojevich to hold 2 p.m. news conference

Gov. Rod Blagojevich scheduled a news conference today to make a statement to the media, his first public appearance since he was arrested last week on federal corruption charges.

Blagojevich has avoided the public eye for the most part since his arrest, but in recent days has told reporters camped outside his house that he is eager to talk to the people of Illinois.

The advisory released this morning from the governor's office said only that Blagojevich would make a statement to the press at 2 p.m. at the James R. Thompson Center in downtown Chicago.

It was not clear if he would take questions.

That is my analysis as well -- to say "this (the Senate seat) is worth something" does not necessarily mean that soliciations were made for money.

My bet -- Blago walks.  But he is in Edwards territory politically.

To say "this has value and I want to get all I can" is not the same as saying "if you give me x million dollars I will give you the seat."  It sucks, but the law doesn't work that way.

If he had any sack at all he'd be quoting THIS and emulating it.

Blagojevich: 'I have done nothing wrong'

Gov. Rod Blagojevich said today that he "has done nothing wrong" and will not resign in the face of federal corruption charges.

"I will fight. I will fight. I will fight until I take my last breath," he said. "And I'm not going to quit a job that people hired me to do because of false accusations and a political lynch mob."

Blagojevich, however, did not get into the specifics of the political corruption charges he faces, saying he's "not going to talk about this case in 30-second sound bites...on the TV news."

"I am dying to answer these charges. I am dying to show you how innocent I am," he said.

"I intend to answer every allegation that comes my way. However, I intend to answer them in the appropriate forum: in a court of law. And when I do, I am absolutely certain that I will be vindicated," Blagojevich said.

I hope he hangs in there.  The more he's in the news, the more people will be reminded that Democrat politicians from Chicago aren't to be trusted.

Except the one who can do no wrong.
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

Yes, the more he hangs on, the more press he'll get.

It galls me to see the media give crooked Dems a pass when any Republican caught in a scandal gets his own graphics and nifty "-gate" by CNN.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

This is the sticking point! Actually all he did was "offer" to sell the seat! It would only be a crime IF he actually did it!

Why in the hell Fitz didn't wait until he had him by the family jewels only suggests he is trying to protect other criminals,( I.E. ObamaWannaBuanna!!!!).
