Went to the big meeting with the Big Boss Lady. She's the director of the organization I work for. She gave us more information about the impending layoffs.
We'll be notified mid-January whether or not we will be staying. They were iffy on criteria but it sounds like seniority means jack shit to them. Not that I've been there for twenty years or anything. They are basing it on our job descriptions and whether or not our roles still play a vital role in the organizations big mission.
I don't feel a sense of dread, but I don't feel like I'm in the clear yet either. I just flat out wish I knew already.
On a positive note, if I do get laid off, I'll get six months paid administrative leave which includes all the extra benefits (healthcare, retirement, etc.). Plus, unused vacation time will be reimbursed. So I'll have a little bit of financial cushion.
All this being said...
