There's a pun in my title, but perhaps it's too deep.

I get deep at times.

ASIA MARKETS

Asian auto shares plunge, dragging region lower

Honda, Toyota plunge 10% or more in Tokyo; yen soars as crude drops

By V. Phani Kumar, MarketWatch

Last update: 6:18 a.m. EST Dec. 12, 2008Comments: 68HONG KONG (MarketWatch) -- A week of solid gains ended on a sour note for Asian markets Friday as stocks got broadly hammered as hopes for a U.S. government bailout of the Big Three automakers collapsed.

Regional automakers -- such as Toyota Motor Corp., Honda Motor Co. and Hyundai Motor Co., all of which depend heavily on the U.S. market -- plunged in afternoon trading.

Meanwhile, the dollar fell against the Japanese yen in Tokyo trading, hitting a 13-year low of 88.02 yen, before rebounding after news broke on Capitol Hill that the Senate had failed to reach a compromise on the proposed auto-loan package, which had cleared the House of Representatives Wednesday night. WHY DO THEY HATE AMERICA?

Hmmm.  franksolich happens to think Republican U.S. Senators love America; they're thinking of the long-term, not just today.

But to a primitive, "right now" is "long-term."

4. Southern Republicans are a special breed, that's for sure

Collectively, they manage to take the "cut off nose to spite face" deal to ever higher levels.

Southern Republicans are a special beed, that's for sure.

Collectively, at times they seem to be the only ones concerned about the future.

5. If they let our Big 3 go down....they will ALL go down. REPUBLICANS KILLED THE AUTO INDUSTRY. I will walk everywhere before I buy a foreign car. Republicans hate America.

Hmmm.  Walking might be good for the shaming primitive.

Drops the weight, lowers the blood pressure, all those sorts of things.

7. The Southern elite have always been treasonous bastards, from day one. They were the Tories and were never for this country, except what they could rape from it. And most of the "bad chapters" of our history were them getting their way.

Maybe they don't think they're hated enough yet. If they get their way about this, and the public watches the economy go over the cliff from it, even their remaining few supporters (the ultra-slow) will catch on.

Yeah, yeah.

So, the Southern DUmmies just sit there and take it.  Skins approves of the continued region bashing and DUmmies in The South keep donating.  What a world!

Those that don't know history say stupid things.
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

"America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within."  Stalin

Attn DUmmies:  The price tag for every new American car has $1500 added that goes directly into the workers pension fund.  That's too much, has been for a long time, and it's now caught up with the industry.  Until that amount is addressed and drastically reduced, all the loans/bailouts in the world won't keep them afloat.

(DUmmies, the above statement has to do with economics which incurs having the ability to be analytical.  Please disregard and return to viewing the world through your normal emotion driven prism.)

.
Because third world peasant labor is a good thing.

Hush now, sir.

There's certain things, no matter how simple, one can't explain to children, or to the infantile mind.
