For some, the pendulum is in slow motion

I know that we have not seen the worst, but so far this week:

My mom's company cut their benefits back to give them less days off with pay, fewer sick days and no overtime.

My SIL's company cut them back 1 hour a day--and told them hopefully that was all they had to do because other plants were cutting back to every other week.

My company cut supervisors pay 10% across the board (this was on the heels of another pay cut).

I have a pretty good idea of how this will end, but I just wonder how long it is going to take.

Probably until January 20, 2013, when a Republican takes the presidency.

2. My husband will be losing his job in March, or sooner. We can't afford the COBRA payments on my SSD. He would gladly take a cut in pay.

We thought we'd be in good shape by this point in our lives.

One wonders if the recent presidential election changed all that.

3. I hear you

I am concerned for my job--but my profession will have jobs somewhere (even if I have to drive) so I am not that concerned yet.

4. It's political with his job. They have piss poor management and are getting rid of some of the most talented people, just because they're senior level. Sort of smells like age discrimination. So just offer them a pay cut and see if they'll take it! But also they're cutting off the telecommuters unless they move to one of the approved sites. We can't move now, so we're hit with two of their "reasons."

I've vowed not to shop at any site with a certain security logo displayed, as a protest against what this company is doing.

Hmmm.  The lying Lorien primitive must not be in professoring any more:

6. One of my best clients is going under, and my top client isn't sending out work anymore. I've spent more than half of this year unemployed. I'll have to kill my health insurance soon, plus every other non-critical expense. I keep wondering about how much longer I'll be able to keep this roof over my head.

In case anyone's forgotten, it's the lying Lorien primitive who alleged that policemen were using billy-clubs and batons to beat black people away from the polls in Florida in November 2000.....a tale the lying Lorien primitive finally got around to telling in mid-2008, almost eight years later.

Yet, I just got a promotion (with pay increase) and full-time status.  Must be because I am a 'corporatist' (or because I just got my degree)

As we all knew if the greatest economic conditions since the 30s came as predicted since 2002, women, children, minorities, and DUmbasses would be hit the hardest.

Hey DUchebags, be careful what you propagandize for.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

Would she be happier if they just laid her off?  No company is required to offer paid time off, sick days or overtime.  I'd gladly sacrifice a few paid days off if it meant I get to keep my job.

Jobs and really great benefits are a Right - didn't you get the memo?  The employer is required by the Constitution to continue to operate irrespective of those silly profit and loss ideas.
