Obama plans major address in Islamic capital: interview
« on: December 10, 2008, 12:16:38 PM »

(AFP) – President-elect Barack Obama plans to give "a major address" in an Islamic capital soon after taking office as he seeks to mend America's image in the Muslim world, a Chicago Tribune interview said.

"I think we've got a unique opportunity to reboot America's image around the world and also in the Muslim world in particular," Obama said in the interview published late Tuesday on the Tribune's website.

Obama promised an "unrelenting" desire to "create a relationship of mutual respect and partnership in countries and with peoples of good will who want their citizens and ours to prosper together."

The world "is ready for that message."

While he described a fresh approach to diplomacy, Obama said his administration would not shrink from the struggle against terrorism, referring to the recent attacks on India's financial capital.

"The message I want to send is that we will be unyielding in stamping out the terrorist extremism we saw in Mumbai," said Obama, who gave the interview from his transition team's offices in Chicago.

This is the hallmark of Obamashitbird's arrogance.

WTF makes him think that there is a "major" Islamic city (that one right there is puzzling all by itself -- most of 'em are hellholes) that is willing to put up with his ass? The security concerns, grip and grin sessions, the dog and pony show?

Won't be Cairo. Won't be Baghdad. Sure as hell won't be Teheran and it won't be Riyadh.

Amman, Jordan, is a possibility. He and King Hussein share the same name, so maybe they'll break some bread together.  :whatever:

Its either going to be Lansing Michigan or Mecca.
My fellow Americans, there is nothing audacious about hope. Hope is what makes people buy lottery tickets instead of paying the bills. Hope is for the old gals feeding the slots in Atlantic City. It destroys the inner-city kid who quits school because he hopes he'll be a world-famous recording artist.

What's the difference between Sarah Palin and Barack Obama?

One is a well turned-out, good-looking, and let's be honest, pretty sexy piece of eye-candy.

The other kills her own food.

...and if some moose-limb grabs Obama to give him one of those sloppy muslim kisses and they both just happen to explode........will the liberals be willing to fight then?
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

Oughta shore up his support from the peter-puffer constituency.  Maybe he'll do a ceremonial grabbing of the ankles for the German Chancellor while he's there, in honor of the 69th anniversary of France becoming a part of the Third Reich or something.

That'll get the butt pirates behind Der Fuhrer for sure!

I'm kinda wonderin' how many of those guys would not want the POTUS detail, once inauguration happens.

Isn't it considered a position of honor? At least in the past?  Are they allowed to refuse?

Since the SS agent is supposed to take a bullet for his principal, if necessary, I can't imagine how the SS can force an agent to take that detail. It's still a civilian agency.

Of course, the political ramifications are such that refusing a POTUS detail would essentially be a career-ender.

But hell, if you in all honesty can't agree to take a bullet for a scoundrel, thug, and criminal-in-hiding, I think being honest with yourself enough to being able to look your mug in the mirror in the morning is more important.

Would be for me, anyway.  :shucks:

Wouldn't it be a volunteer post in the first place?

If so, wouldn't said volunteer have to apply for the next open slot?  If you don't want to be a human shield for a human shitbag, don't submit the application, right?

Der Fuhrer would contract out the open slots to his brown-shirted "community organizer"  ::) minions, of course.

Maybe have some high schooler fill his/her 50 hours of "service" that way?
