Supreme Court won't review Obama's eligibility to serve

WASHINGTON – The Supreme Court has turned down an emergency appeal from a New Jersey man who says President-elect Barack Obama is ineligible to be president because he was a British subject at birth.

The court did not comment on its order Monday rejecting the call by Leo Donofrio of East Brunswick, N.J., to intervene in the presidential election. Donofrio says that since Obama had dual nationality at birth — his mother was American and his Kenyan father at the time was a British subject — he cannot possibly be a "natural born citizen," one of the requirements the Constitution lists for eligibility to be president.

Donofrio also contends that two other candidates, Republican John McCain and Socialist Workers candidate Roger Calero, also are not natural-born citizens and thus ineligible to be president.(more at link)

Well coming from that angle, I can see why it's thrown on the heap. My mother is a British citizen still and my father is US and I was born in Germany(on a US air base). By all considerations I had 'right' to 3 places of citizenship, but naturally opted to be an American, yet I had no application of citizenship to fill out--I was just automatically assumed a US citizen I'm assuming by birth right and no effort to expatriat myself in favor of the other two. So, would that put me out of the running those circumstances of birth? They sound similar to Obama's given just that snippet, except he was actually born in the states(supposedly). And what's the deal with McCain not being a natural born citizen? I'm assuming he was born on a US military base as well?

I think McCain was born at a hospital in Panama, but not on the base.

McCain was born in the Panama Canal Zone, which is by statute at the time, considered as "natural-born"

I was born with a dual citizenship because I was born in Greece.  The only time the Federal Government asked me to declare whether I recognized my Greek citizenship, was after I turned 18 and I was already in the military.

I don't think the question of having a duel citizenship due to birth really matters much.  You can't help that.  And as long as you make the decision to forsake one of those citizenships (which I doubt any sane person can't say Obama has done) then whats the issue?

The other question is whether or not he can qualify as a NATURAL Born citizen because his mother was only 18 when he was born and his father was NOT a citizen. Finally, the last question is HOW did he travel to Pakistan(?) when they weren't allowing US visitors to enter?? He DID go there and HAD to have had a passport from SOME country. If we can't hold our candidates to what the rules are, we might as well just toss away the Constitution, the laws, the Bill of Rights and everything that every single person that has served for since the inception of this country.
