this is one from a couple days ago.  Is that smog?  I saw a HS football game from Los Angeles a couple years ago... it was all smokey and hazy on the field from the pollution.  It was nasty, and I was 2000 miles away watching it on TV.

If you or your dad haven't been to Cove in awhile you probably wouldn't recognize it. Especially that huge ass maze of a High School.  Sparky ain't changed at all though.

Ahem, Martin High School, at least in 1999, largest single school high school in Texas.  I cannot imagine Copperas Cove being larger than that building.  The only building in Arlington, Texas larger than the high school...the GM factory.

The Copperas Cove Bulldawgs are in Corsicana tonight to play the Spring Texas Klein Oak Panthers. This is the 5A Division 2 Quarter finals. This is the Dawgs third yr in a row in their quest for a State Championship.

The score is 7 - 7 about 3 minutes left of first quarter.
The score is 14 - 7 Bulldawgs 10:23 minutes left 2nd qtr.
The score is 17 - 7 Bulldawgs 6:24 minutes left 2nd qtr
The score is 24 - 7 Bulldawgs 6:06 minutes left 2nd qtr
The score is 31 - 7 Bulldawgs ,2:12 left in first half
The score is 38 - 7 Bulldawgs ,  :46 left in third Qtr
The score is 45 - 7 Bulldawgs ,  4:30 left to play

Final score Copperas Cove Bulldawgs 45 - Klein Oak Panthers 7. Bulldawgs advance to 5A Division 2 semi finals for the third year in a row

Congrats to Cove. I'll let you know how the epic showdown with Allen turns out. We played a grueling non-district schedule this year. We started with John Curtis High School from Rock Ridge, LA (a private school that recruits players and has 22 state titles) whom we beat handily, Cedar Hill (still in the playoffs in D2) whom we systematically dismantled, and Allen that we beat 24-14 in week 3. But, you never know, Allen's a very good team and will give us a good run.

It's not so much it's size, although it is a fair sized building for the school district, HS is something like 2200 students.. It's been added on and extended numerous times to the point it was just a confusing maze of hallways. They did recently remodel the whole thing after another addition a couple yrs ago. haven't been in it since so don't know if it's an improvement.

The Bible tells us we are called to a similar union in life, our lives with the life of God. We are incorporated into him; made sharers in his life. Apart from this union we can do nothing.

Martin HS doubled in size with the additions added to it during my freshman/sophomore years.  When I was a freshman I was still at the middle school and they were bringing them up to the high school building my junior year...and they still had to have temporary buildings my junior year. LOL

There were over 4000 students in total when I graduated.  Heck, the small university I go to has less students than my senior year graduating class.   :lmao:

Cove just moved up to 5A this year. Because they are a smaller school and smaller players they weren't expected to do much this yr. Goes to show what teamwork & speed can do on a football field. Would be something if after two failed attempts in 4A they won the championship in 5A. My son graduates this year so he really wants it.

Holy  :o  What do the believe in just one to three high schools per school district?  That's insanely huge!

There were 5 high schools in Arlington when I graduated, the 6th opened a year or two after I graduated.

How many kids are in these school districts?   :o  Are you educating half of Mexico?

Arlington has a population of about 400K about 120K of them under the age of 18.

Detroit doesn't even have that many children!  Let me rephrase that, children enrolled in school.

Those Texas gals, know how to give it up  :cheersmate:  :uhsure:

And yet we're considered a "suburb" next to Ft Worth & Dallas.

You also forget that pretty much every kid in Arlington that lives south of Sublett is educated by the Mansfield ISD, which has 4 high schools of its own.

They say that Dallas and Ft. Worth are 40 miles apart. Except for the occasional weed patch here & there between the two it's all one big Flustercuck.

Yup. I was there. Allen came out and punched us in the mouth and we never could get on-track. We are a run-oriented team, but once we got down so early, we had to abandon it. Oh well, next year's a rebuilding year, but the 2010 and 2011 teams are going to have some absolute MONSTERS. Good luck to your Dawgs.

I was just through Allen today. I remember when Allen was a conglomerate of some 50 houses and a gas station......   :o

I hope the Dawgs do go all the way. They aren't getting any respect. It's kinda obvious they are under rated when if you go by so called state rankings everyone ranked above them has been knocked out or the dawgs have beat them. They are overlooked because it's a small school, the players on avg and by  comparison are smaller and it's their first yr in 5A and they were pegged as DOA. They are playing in the State semi finals though, strange huh.
