Fairly Decent Friday!
« on: December 05, 2008, 07:28:49 AM »
Cold as a witches fundament and snow on the way.

BUT... Leaving for a waterpark resort this afternoon for the weekend so I'm going to be kicking it in a beach chair and drinking tropical things in 32 ounce glasses for the next two days.  So let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!  :cheersmate:

Anybody gots fun plans for tonight or for the weekend?

Hey....asdf... :bigbird:.    Meanie.

J/K.

My fun weekend plans...lets see.  Tonight my daughter is going out with "he's not my boyfriend" and his parents for his 16th birthday dinner, so I'll have to do some shuttling, I'm sure.  Then we will probably take the boys Christmas shopping.

Tomorrow, I get to shuttle between the dance studio and and venue for the Nutcracker performance for the morning hours, and then tomorrow afternoon, we are having a mini football gathering, to work on the float for the parade on Sunday, and to view the highlights DVD we've been putting together. (my daughter, thankfully, will be going home from dance with a friend and staying the night there)

Then Sunday, I get to freeze my arse off AT the parade, when the high is currently being predicted to be 32 degrees and windy.

The mighty Trinity High School Trojans are playing the Allen Eagles in the 5A Division 1 Regional Final at Texas Stadium tomorrow, so I'll be there. Trinity is on a quest for its 3rd State Title in 4 years and are currently ranked as the #1 high school football team in the nation. Allen is ranked #9 nationally and #2 in the state, so it should be a dogfight. I'm interested to see if All-State linebacker Ernest Norman (Nebraska commit) will actually kill someone this week.

Sorry, but high school football is almost a religion down here. It's unlikely that you yankee folk would understand. :-)

Back in the shop, thankfully.  Chilling down nicely, with snow coming in Sat. night or Sunday.

Going to my husband's work christmas party tonight.  I haven't been "out out" since before my brothers funeral (July 22nd).  Wait I take that back, I went out between my two cases of UVeitis one time (this would have been in September) with a couple of girlfriends.

My daughters choir performance was so cute last night.  It about brought tears to my eyes.  To be in this choir they had to audition BY THEMSELVES in front of the choir teacher (she had never sung for anyone before), have at least an A-B average, be selected by their teacher for exceptional behavior and not in danger their grades slipping because of missing class for practice.

My other daughter had an Orchestra performance so my Husband and my parents went to that while I went to my daughters choir deal.  Apparently it was really impressive.  They had the band, orchestra, choir, theater and the art department all involved in the whole deal.  It was a really huge show.  I'm sorry I had to miss it.

Flame, I went to a parade here last night and I thought of your poor daughter freezing her bum off this Sunday.  It was chilly last night, but that Irish coffee warmed me right up.   :-)

BEG, you would have loved the high school orchestra I was in.  For the Christmas concert it was full orchestra for 2 songs, 1 string only piece, then the varsity choir would come out and we played "Hallelujah" with them singing. It was impressive every year.

Tantal- I saw the other day on Yahoo Trinity is ranked #1 in the nation.  They really smacked Arlington upside the head last week.  I have a lot of friends that graduated from Trinity.

As for me, I'm really hoping I don't have to do much of this "work" business today.  LOL!  I'm hoping that Sweet Dee still wants to go to happy hour today too.   :cheersmate:

I live in Round Rock and our local high school (Stony Point) where my son graduated from is still in the playoffs for 5A.  He graduated five years ago and their team barely won a game during the season when he was there (he didn't play football - he was on the basketball team) and in the last two or three years they have just exploded.  They play Dallas Skyline tomorrow at 2:00 pm in Waco.  So if Trinity wins and Stony Point wins, could they eventually play each other?  I'm not up on the whole playoff system here.

If Trinity and Stony Point both win tomorrow, they will meet on 12/13 to determine who goes to the State Title game. In D1 you've still got Pearland/Fort Bend Hightower from region 3 and San Antonio Clark/Austin Westlake from region 4.

I feel it my obligation to warn you.....we're LOADED.

Honestly, Stony Point is doing well to have gotten this far.  The school itself is only 8 years old and the first few years the athletic teams were pitiful.  I'm not so much into the high school football as I am into Notre Dame football.

We have a basketball game tonight.  Taking the oldest to the high school placement test tomorrow morning.  Then another basketball game tomorrow afternoon, where I have to sell the hot dogs, nachos, and walking tacos.  :-)

I want to know what a 'walking taco' is.

Doing reports today, went to the grocery. We have a new super dooper Kroger's about 20 minutes from me. I was out there taking pictures so decided to stop there. Was starving....and the only thing I had to get was peanut butter for M....a cart full later I was checking out. I did get the peanut butter....and a cherry pie, crab dip, cream cheese coffee cake, ice cream, red and green M&M's.... :uhsure:.....the Starbucks double chocolaty chip frappacino obviously had no significant effect on my salivating taste buds.... :thatsright:

Still no snow, but the rain puddles froze and it's up to about 33....snow predicted tomorrow night and Tuesday/Wednesday. One of these times.....we might actually get something.

Christmas concert last night was great. The kids all did a great job.

Beware of meatballs and chicken drumettes at holiday parties...... :puke:......
Just hand over the chocolate...back away slowly...far away....and you won't get hurt....

You take a snack size bag of fritos, you smooch the fritos to break them up a bit.   You open the bag and you put a spoonful of chili or taco meat in the bag. Then you put some shredded cheddar, or a spoonful of nacho cheese.  Then you give it to the consumer, who can then add onions, tomatoes or any other condiment they choose.    I never heard of it either until I worked a grade school basketball game concession stand.   :-)

We have a chain fast food place here called Petro's that was started during the World's Fair in '82.

A "Petro" is a cardboard cup with Fritos in the bottom then chili on top, and layered up the same way. They come in several different sizes.

Now that I don't have kids at home, I never think to buy the snack pack of chips....thanks for the idea, I think I will pick some up!

If you or your dad haven't been to Cove in awhile you probably wouldn't recognize it. Especially that huge ass maze of a High School.  Sparky ain't changed at all though.

Damn, it's cold outside.  26* on the way home from work, and it's supposed to be 22* tonight.

Other than that, it's been a long day.  Probably have another long day tomorrow.
