You Are 40% Likely to Survive Another Great Depression

Your habits are pretty on par with the average person.
Unfortunately, this means your chances aren't good in another Great Depression.

Start saving your money now. Living in debt isn't doing you any favors.
Also figure out how to live a little more cheaply. Every little bit you can trim will help.

You Are 69% Likely to Survive Another Great Depression

Even though you may not be expecting the worst, you're the type of person who prepares for the worst.
You live a relatively modest life. You don't overspend, and you aren't very materialistic.

You are also quite self sufficient and independent. You have many useful skills.
You can take care of yourself and those you love... which is crucial to surviving another Great Depression.

So, class, what have we learned?

Keep a good cash reserve -- 6 months to 1 year.

NEVER pile up Credit Card Debt -- it is the dance of the Devil himself.

ALWAYS pay cash.  If you need it, save up for it.  If you can't save up for it, you don't need it.  (truth in advertising: I have a 8 YO "flat screen" -- NOT HD -- TV that seems to do the job well enough for me.  I have a 15 YO surround sound system that still provides surround sound and plays DVDs with great fidelity.)

The only "valid" debt is car payments (on a car payment that is < 15% of your gross) or a Mortgage < 35% of your gross.  But not both.

As do we.  There are some charities that we feel very passionately about:
* St. Jude's hospital -- this one is truly for the children
* Midnight Mission -- give a man a shave, a meal, a suit and a job and he can reclaim his dignity and become a productive member of society
* CCF -- sponsoring a child who didn't ask to be brought into bad circumstances (we sponsor 2)
* ASPCA -- this isn't PETA, this is pets who can't protect themselves

We give to others as well, and situational charities as the need arises.

This is why I get so pissed at the libtards who DARE to suggest I am "greedy" and "selfish" because I want to decide how to use the money I earned.

Oh, this is a commercial for my charities I listed above :)

God love you Free.... who on earth would ever think you were an arsehole?

Socialism, like the ancient ideas from which it springs, confuses the distinction between government and society. As a result of this, every time we object to a thing being done by government, the socialists conclude that we object to its being done at all. ~ Frederic Bastiat, The Law

I need to read The Law one of these days. Actually I have a few books on my bookshelf....

I saw that on one of your screencaps -- GREAT quote and one that should be front and center.

You have been saving for a rainy day... or a rainy few years.
While most people may not have as grim of an outlook as you, they're also not as prepared as you.

If society collapses, you'll have plenty of food and resources for you and your loved ones.
And plenty of ammo for anyone who wants to steal from your stockpile

Regardless of the test (69% for me), we'll do fine. There's always a need for law enforcement when the economy tanks, even if tax revenues are down and they have to make pay cuts. Mrs. Tantal is a RN. They can't get by without her either. My truck's paid-for. Mrs. Tantal's vehicle is about 18 months from being paid-for, and we only owe another 3 years on the house. By 2012, we'll be sitting completely debt-free, so all we'll have to pay for are taxes, utilities, and food.

37% seems kind of high, considering my debt load.   I am employed and I do bike to work.   It doesn't seem that those  should be that positive though.
