Chilly Cyber Monday
« on: December 01, 2008, 07:30:42 AM »
Keep warm while shopping online today! Many retailers are trying to encourage in store traffic today as well with special deals and sales! One national drug chain I see has a coupon advertised on yahoo for $5 off in store purchases which works out really nice if you are buying items already on sale! (See the coupon thread in the lounge)

I just had to kick on the space heater, but it won't be on long. Todays high will be 73.

My mother has surgery tomorrow in Las Vegas, and looks like they might have to keep her overnight. Yesterday she called me at work to tell me there is a recall on her fridge. In her words, the letter says: "if you have this model number, unplug it right away & call this number"..so I have to load up her cold stuff and bring it to my house. (I hope she has some good stuff, I'm hungry  :-)) Hopefully I call for more info and find out it's no big deal....as she will be laid up for a few days.

The good news is, I am off work until Wed afternoon...What are you up to?

Dentist a little later in the morning. Meh.

Covered in white stuff and the plow crews are displaying their usual level of municipal incompetence.  Dane county got all concerned about salt run-off a few years back and banned road salt.  They will still salt but only in "Emergency" situations or in key locations.  They also never decide it's an emergency until after the salt would actually make a difference. So they use sand.  Which sucks and works for squat. So you get unmelted snow mud. :whatever:

Plus they NEVER seem to be able to plow adaquately at the intersection where the access road leads to where they do school drop off. That's the busiest corner in town so it would seem like a no brainer that they might want to keep it clear.  Pack a' fekking idiots.

20's and windy today. Looks like snow coming in bits and drabs the rest of the week.

On a bright note we booked a suite at a waterpark resort for this coming weekend.  Last big family trip till spring. Going to be us and two college roommates and their kids so the little ones will have other kids to pack up with and the grownups can concentrate on large drinks with tropical names. :-)

It's chilly here today too.  It's only getting up to the mid-50s.  Thank god tomorrow it's back to low 70s.

I woke up late this morning.  I'm still sleepy.     Tonight is to bed a little early, I start back to school tomorrow morning.

Someone (Al Gore?) must have really ticked off Mother Nature....we've had yukky weather for days!!!

Went to Fantasy of Trees yesterday afternoon and got some decorating ideas, so we blew off the movie and went to KMart out north...in the cold and rain and wind. Then went to AC Moore....came out to either small hail or frozen rocks about half the size of marbles...enough to cover the parking lot. Went to Arby's, came out to lightning and loooouuuuuudddddd thunder and wind. Took Margot back to her car, just as we finished unloading my car into hers....the rain hit hard. All at once was....ice balls, snow, rain, wind, thunder and lightning...and a temp drop from 43 to 36. By the time I got to the road that my subdivision is on....there was at least an inch of slush on the road....which is curvy. Only to get to my house, open the car door, go to grab my purse and find Margot's.... :censored: :censored:. Had to go back out and go another 15 minutes to her house and give her her purse.

Had left yesterday in jeans, sweater and turtleneck.... :thatsright:.....thought I would never get warm!

Have done 3 reports this morning, working on an offer and another report and then going to start decorating....

Still raining, snow in the area and snow is predicted for tonight. Rumor has it we might see sun on Wednesday.... :whatever:

Deb, I always take 'precautionary' clothes since I can never warm up...never! And coffee...a big steaming cup of coffee. I don't know why I'm in the cold. Between losing weight this last year and being brought up in and living in most of my life warmer climates, it's been a tough and continued adjustment. The positive though is the seasons and really the snow is lovely if you can watch it without having to venture out it in it too much except to play.

Today I'll be dragging out even more decorations. I found my next artificial tree and will be eying it in the after xmas sales...it has flocking on a green tree--looks like a fir tree with snow on it...it's lovely..just the right mix of white against the green. For those wondering, this is a 'flocked' tree:

anyway, I have to start studying for a final too and it's probably time to register for courses for next semester.

At my age....being cold is rare... :thatsright:...which is why I din't have a coat on as it was supposed to be in the low 50's.

Love the sweater Mia.

It was from my favorite seller on eBay.  Uptownladyscollection  She puts up cute cute cute things.  I've also bought a black wrap dress from her before.  And she does fast shipping.

Yeah, I think she buys at sample sales.  It came NWT and that sweater I bought is a BCBG and the regular price is $240.  The dress I bought, I think I paid like $30 for it, and it has the tags too the only thing was the label was crossed out on the dress.  I think they're good deals and I'm very frugal.  :)

I'm looking around on New York and Company's site (30% off everything), trying to find something cute for my sister for Christmas.  Am thinking about getting the blue version for her, and the pink one for me.   :uhsure:

Do you need a "visit" from the VRWC weather control satellites?

Most are offering free shipping.  :)

Many of the higher end retailers are not (like NY & Company). :(
