I went to get my oil changed and my tires rotated today
Edited on Sun Nov-30-08 12:12 AM by proud2Blib
They told me I need new tires. I said I can't afford them till after Christmas.

Two of my tires have gone flat since I got home. One of them I know was bad. It has been losing air. But not the other one.

Did the dealership do something to my tires or is this just a coincidence?

2. the real question should be- why are you having it done at a dealership?

9. I prepaid for oil changes when I bought the car
One of the smartest things I ever did. Locked in a price 3 years ago and as long as I own the car, they change the oil and I don't have to give them any money

36. if it's "one of the smartest things (you) ever did" -why are you wondering if the car was sabotaged?

17. Yeah, I know better than to buy tires from a car dealer
They also quoted me a price of $125 for a new battery. It's an 84 month battery. I said that's 7 years, can you guarantee I will even be driving this car in 7 years? Sheesh.

12. I know I need new tires
But 2 flats in just a few hours after they were rotated? Just seems odd.

15. Did you venture across the state line into the Land of the Metal Plates today?
If so, it was probably our damn roads that did that to your tires.

18. Actually I did
Went to Bob Jones to buy some new shoes. And that's part of the reason I can't afford new tires

 :banghead: Hope they're walking shoes

27. Yes I really do need new tires
I was hoping to wait until January.

The dealership was Superior. I have been buying cars from them for decades. Never had a problem yet.

She contradicts herself. Does she read or think about what's she writing?
Come to think of it, unions do create jobs. Companies have to hire two workers to do the work of one.

Perhaps they don't treat ALL women like that.

Funny you should say that.  One of the guys in the deer camp I belong to--he shot two 10-pointers last weekend--is a big Dem in the local Dem party.  (I won't go into the 2A issues with him--too long and drawn-out.)  He decided to join the local volunteer fire department.  He also had an "Obama/Biden '08" sticker on his truck.  For some reason, the sticker disappearred right around the time he was going for his oxygen mask fitting/initial meeting.  He hasn't said as much (yet), but the feeling is that the VFD wouldn't appreciate the name of Obama being on one of their prospective members, and that might influence their decision on him.

She obviously had bad tires then.

And if she thinks they're treating women badly, why does she keep going there?

She's got to be a masochist.  The fact that she's on DU, only bitching about woes rather than doing something really constructive about them, reinforces my assertion.

If you are a faithfull customer of a dealership you can get good deals. I have gotten numerous deals through the ford dealership here cheaper than direct purchase from the retailer. See the dealership gets wholesale/volume pricing the consumer doesn't. If as stated you are a faithful customer the dealership  passes the savings on to the consumer. last purchase was 4 tires that were $100 cheaper through the dealer and the tire store didn't quote installation price just the tires.

Now , while I can and have changed my vehicles fluids, from engine , gearbox , t-case , both diffs, brake and the like included, I hate crawling around under vehicles.

That said..

The local office for the "dealership" for my make/ model of car has a 3 week waiting list for a simple handbook service, offers surly rude staff, and charges 50% on what the local mechanic does.

Thus I take it to the local place that can get it done in 2-3 days.

Appointment.what's an appointment. I must be "special", I drop my vehicle off, pick up the key to the loaner vehicle and off I go. They call when my vehicle is ready for pickup. Sometimes they even deliver and recover the loaner.
