Thanksgiving eve!

Morning peeps! I still feel like crap from this fun little cold bug thingie, my mother lost her job yesterday, and other assorted woes, but I'm still in a pretty chipper mood.

I'm planning to do the bulk of my cooking today so I can actually enjoy tomorrow and stay on the hiney of my so to get down the xmas decor. My throat is really getting sore so I figure in case this gets any worse, as it seems to be getting, I probably should do most of the dinner today so tomorrow I can rest. CAn't count on my mum to help since she is very sick too...ugh!

Going to slow cook the turkey overnight.

So sausage is going for the stuffing right now.

Anything special going on with you all today? Anybody go to the Friday am sales? I don't...just not my thing...especially in 20 degree morning temperatures. I've already got some great Christmas specialty stuff 50% off already. Was at Cracker BArrel yesterday and they had several collections for 50% off already!

As I mentioned, we warmed up (slightly) yesterday only to have 3-4 inches of rain dump on us.  So with minimal ground thaw, the water had nowhere to go, and of course, last night it got down to about 30 degrees, which made the drive into work this morning a real adventure...I hit black ice at least 4 times just going down the hill from my house to the Spaulding, in one case sliding into the oncoming lane.  Fortunately there was nobody coming up the hill. 

I know, get 4WD.  No matter, I have it, and the only difference between 4WD and 2WD when you hit ice is the number of wheels spinning as you go sliding away.

At least work will be fairly quiet today.

No plans for this weekend.  Dinner at the American Legion tomorrow, and I am NOT going shopping.  I refuse.

75% of the Chirstmas shopping is already complete.  Friday will be spent either finishing the shopping or putting up the Christmas decorations.  There are several houses in the area that have had their lights up and trees lit for several weeks.  That just ain't right.

I noticed the same here as I was bringing my oldest home from the dentist last night. The daughter even commented on it not even being Thanksgiving yet when she swa a lit tree through a window.

Quiet, lazy morning planned.  My daughter went home with a friend from dance last night, so I'll go get her later, and then we wil lall pitch in to clean the house for company tomorrow.  If we all pitch in, it should only take an hour or so, depending on how much the kids fart around when they are cleaning their rooms.  And yes, the WHOLE house needs to be clean, becasue 6 kids are coming (along with their parents) and they will be everywhere.

Not gonna do too much prep work on food,,,that's part of the routine of Thanksgiving for us...watch the Macy's day parade, and dice onions ,etc.  I'm not doing desserts, or rolls or drinks, so my stuff will be relatively easy.


Hope to get Christmas decorations up this weekend, if the weather  cooperates and Mr Flame is aggreeable (which I'm sure he will be, because he knows how jazzed I get about Christmas!)

I usually don't do much prep either, Flame, but I'm kinda sick of cooking all day and missing hte parade and such. Plus this year, I seem to be getting progressively more sick so I plan to head off what could be a rest day tomorrow because of it. If i feel better, then I will just enjoy!

I have to clean too...no company coming, but I just like a neat and tidy house when we have holiday dinners.

Sorry to hear about your mother's job. I hope today you start to feel better.

I had last weekend off and did not leave the house, felt flu-ish, aches, pains and migranes...lots of rest and medication was my friend...

I will work until late tonight, so that means I am taking my mom and another family out for dinner tomorrow.

Then I also work Friday. The little company that I work for will be having a black friday sale...my area will not be busy, so I am sure I will be called out from behind my keypadded door to help, I might even end up behind a cash register for a while, it's hard to predict, but I know I will be busy...those that know me also know that I enjoy that type of stuff....I simply love people. I have alot to be Thankful for, I just wish my sister and her boys could be here this year to eat with us...they are in NE.

Since I am more then happilly single....my phone, email and text is buring up with a few single parents that would like me to play "dad" during the holidays....screw that....they are all welcome to stop over, but without the kids. 

I was asked to play Santa....not sure about all the kids, but it might be a good way to get a few MILF's to sit on my lap for photos.

Finishing up some work this morning.

We did the Sam's and Kroger thing last evening and got it all done in an hour and a half. Going to do some of the chopping tonight, so that all I have to do tomorrow is assemble. We're supposed to go at noon. Will probably bake the brie here at home right before we go, and stick the 3 casseroles in the oven there, unless I figure something else out.

Will get the Christmas decorations out this weekend.

We're having a potluck at work today.  My fruit tray looks good.  LOL!

The cashiers have already ****ed up my day.     And I'm supposed to go to service and get all their purged service records ready to go to the offsite storage place today.

No, I will not be doing any shopping Friday.  My dad needs furniture for his new apartment, so he's going to go to Rooms to Go Friday morning.

Strange how, when I'm on vacation, I wake up earlier than usual.  It's 9:40 here.  Guess its the time zone change. 

We're heading to Marshall, Tx tomorrow for Thanksgiving.  My stepmom was assigned to cook the turkey (a 25 pound one  ) and a green side dish (green bean casserole, hopefully  ). 

An update on my sister:  She was released from the hospital this morning.  The baby is doing fine. Though there was bleeding, it apparently had nothing to do with the baby, according to the doctor.

Usually the concern is when the blood is bright red indicating it it currently happening. Could also be a broken blood vessel in the birth canal which obviously would not affect the baby in the womb. Just some thoughts. I never had spotting, but apparently it's not uncommon in, especially, the first half of pregnancy.

My sister just called me (been chatting for the last hour), and told me what happened.   It WAS a broken blood vessel.  It still scared the heck out of the family though.  We would rather history not repeat itself. 

It doesn't gross me out (though it might bother some of the "men" around here, as I was told by my boyfriend that he "didn't want to hear it," when I called to tell him about it.  :innocent:  ).

Good mornin' Cave Folk!

The only prep that I had to do was hauling the bird out of the deep freeze a couple of days ago to thaw in the fridge.
Trying to decide if I am going to cook the thing in the Nesco or in the oven. I am leaning towards the Nesco just because there are side dishes that need baking as well.

My wife tried to tell my MIL last night that she was not going to be coming for the weekend after she invited herself but luckily the woman had something come up that made her cancel out of her "Invitation".

Loungical day here at the homestead. Family is gonna be in PJ's all day just sort of cooped up and being mellow.

We are having the "Where does the tree go" argument later, lol.  The Christmas stuff is going up on Saturday and the house WILL look festive! We have been going very light on Christmas and holiday decorations in general for the last couple of years.  It will be nice to gussy the place up a bit.

That's where I got the pumpkin one for tomorrow, and I saw chocolate, and some other kind last night. They are $13-something. Regular size cheesecake too, they are probably double that or more at the Cheesecake Factory.

Got out of work after only a hour, one of our part-time highschoolers called and wanted some hours today, so, we were overstaffed. Gonna hit the gym up in a couple of hours and then go out to eat with the extended family later.

I went to the endodontist this morning at 7:45.  I needed a root canal but can I tell you it was the most enjoyable experience I have ever had at a dentist office.  She gave me a ton of novacaine and the shots she gave me didn't hurt a bit (they have to go pretty deep with the shots for a root canal).   She and her assistant were joking the whole time and talking about TV shows all the while she was explaining every step that she was doing.  I felt calm the whole time.  I didn't feel any pain except for when she did the "cold" test before she started everything and it was suppose to hurt (and it was a good sign).  I really wish she could be my regular dentist because I enjoyed her personality and how good she is but I can't because all she does is root canals.  She did tell me that she is a personal friend of my dentist and that he is a great dentist. 

She prescribed another antibiotic "just in case" something starts to act up over Thanksgiving and she wanted me to fill because I'll be out of town.  She also prescribed pain medication and gave me a packet of prescription strength ibuprofen (which is just 4 tablets of regular ibuprofen, 800 mg).  I can already tell the pressure in my jaw is gone but the tooth is sore which is to be expected.  I feel so much better now that I've had this done.  I was afraid to stop taking the antibiotic I have been taking since friday because I just knew the pain would come back once I stopped taking it and I only have a day left of it.  She was able to go through my crown and also get everything done in one visit.  She just put tooth colored filling in the hole she made, so I didn't have to have a new crown.  She commented what a beautiful crown it was (it is the best looking one that I have) and apologized for screwing it up.  You can't tell if I open my mouth and you aren't looking for it but if you are looking for it you can see the "hole" because the filling doesn't match the color of the crown perfectly.  I don't care at this point, I'm just glad I had it done and it is over.

Other than all that we leave tomorrow morning for my in-laws.  My Mom pissed me off when I called to tell her I  had a root canal.  She asked me what time we were leaving tomorrow morning (she and my step dad are going to come too).  I told her not 6 am in the morning like I know you guys like to leave (it takes about 4.5 hours to get there and we are eating at 4:00 pm).  My step dad would leave at 4 am if he could, he is a freak like that.  She bitches about it too but when I said something about it she gets pissy.  Then she asked what time are we planning on leaving and I said I didn't know right then.  We always leave before 9 sometimes before 8 but she wanted to know exactly what time we were leaving.  I told her they could leave before us (they know where they live, they don't have to follow us).  She said they weren't going to get there before us (why I don't know, they have been friends with  my in-laws since 1982, even was on a bowling team with them when I was in high school).   She got pissed and said, "I shouldn't have agreed to go".  Then she said she had to get off the phone.  Oh what a Happy Thanksgiving this will be.
