FOX News Channel’s (FNC) Alan Colmes will relinquish his role as co-host of Hannity & Colmes at the end of the year.

In announcing his decision, Colmes said, “I approached Bill Shine (FNC’s Senior Vice President of Programming) earlier this year about wanting to move on after 12 years to develop new and challenging ways to contribute to the growth of the network. Although it’s bittersweet to leave one of the longest marriages on cable news, I’m proud that both Sean (Hannity) and I remained unharmed after sitting side by side, night after night for so many years.”

Colmes will continue to have a presence on FNC as he will serve as a liberal commentator on a variety of FOX News programming, including Foxnews.com’s The Strategy Room and continue hosting his radio program, The Alan Colmes Show on FOX Talk, a division of FOX News Radio. He will also begin developing a weekend program.

I think that woman who filled in for Colmes from time to time would be a good replacement.  I can't remember her name right now but when she was on I always thought she argued her side (even though I didn't agree) much better than Colmes.

Here's what strikes me...all the loopy leftists foam at the mouth and blather on about "Faux News!" being a tool of the right when time after time, I can rattle off a plethora of liberal commentators and newscasters who are fixtures on that network.

Actually, if one does a comparison of obviously liberal, conservative, or neutral/unknown on-air personalities, they do come up pretty even.  If only CNN/MSNBC/CBS/NBC/ABC/et al could make a similar claim.

Colmes' ability to make his point was always hampered by the fact he came across as a lying weasel, and asked such 'gotcha' questions that a three-year-old could see he didn't want a real answer, he just wanted to ask the snide rhetorical question.

About the only Lib-Tard that comes close to meeting the qualifications I stated is - in my experience - Mort Kondrake.  Hugh Hewitt has him on his "Beltway Boys" segments on the radio with Mort's conservative Keeper.  He manages to come across as being reasonable and rational while still vomiting the usual Lib-Tard talking points.  Amazing what illusions can be generated when massive doses of Thorazine are applied to Lib-Tards that aren't too far gone (aka: DUmpster residents).

I don't know about Mort. He's the one that blamed talk radio for the GOP's losses last election and pissed off his old friend Laura Ingraham. He thought the Republicans weren't liberal enough.

I'm very happy to hear Colmes going, all he's been doing for the last three years is reciting DNC talking points and annoying EVERY guest that comes on the show. But Hannity is improving with time.

It made my day when I heard Hannity announce it on his radio show. Colmes has been getting increasingly obnoxious. They couldn't get anyone too much worse than him-----except Susan Estrich. She's annoying, but occasionally can be reasonable.
