Friday Frolic.
« on: November 21, 2008, 08:40:53 AM »
Thank freaking God it's Friday.

Holy H this week has been a tedious stupid one.  :banghead:  I pick my wife up at the airport tonight and she is free of business travel till the new year. She was gone for almost two months of business travel last year all told and will probably tie that by the end of this year. :p

She also took all next week off so it will be nice to spend some time with her.  It's rough being the single parent.  You are "On" from the moment they wake up until the moment you get them tucked in and it wears you down like a pencil some days. Even when they are being their usual sweet selves sometimes you just want to tell them "Look, I DON"T CARE about the stupid Lego tower that looks just like the other 3,589 Lego towers you built, PISS OFF and let me drink some coffee for 10 minutes without you nattering in my ear!!!" But you bite your tongue and tell them how cool it looks.

I have had semi-chronic insomnia this last week which has not been good.  I somehow managed to get 5 solid hours of sleep last night. I have felt like a zombie a few days this week, kind of lurching around and growling and hooting inarticulately with flailing arms. Which is cool at a rave but looks bad at the drugstore or grocer.

Such is life.

I'm gonna catch up on some chores around the barn here today and do some Christmas shopping.

You wanna talk single parenting...  :banghead:
well I would, but I only have 17 minutes before she wakes up and I'm on duty!  Home today but not really in my home, then saturday moving, then sunday night leaving again...

Yea!  Friday!

I had a dentist appointment this morning for a cleaning.  I'll be going back again in February for another cleaning.  Apparently I produce a lot of plaque.  So even brushing twice a day and daily flossing just doesn't cut it.  I'm thinking I'm going to invest in a Waterpic.  A lady at work swears by the waterpic.  And I have to definitely start brushing 3 times a day.

I think God likes to mess with me.  I'm practically blind.  I have a bad disk in my back.  My teeth were all kinds of crooked before braces and now I produced an overabundance of plaque.   At least I have good hair.  :)

They're putting up the Christmas decorations in the showroom today.  Our company party is Dec. 6th here and with next week being Thanksgiving AND the end of the month, it has to go up today or no decorations before the party.  I have to assist in decorating the giant tree later.

Thankfully today is Friday and that means Happy Hour.   :hyper:

I used a Waterpic the whole time I had braces.  I loved it.  I should get it back out and start using it again.

I did too, but there's no telling where it is now.  I think I'll invest in a new one.  Heck it wouldn't hurt.  :)

I feel almost afraid to post this because I have been such a "Debbie Downer" lately with all of my "ills".   I found a lump under my armpit this morning.  It could just be an infection but I had a friend who had a lump under her armpit and it ended up being staph.  She had to have it surgically removed and packed with something for a week.   :o  It was a mess.  I had another friend who found a lump under her armpit and ended up having breast cancer.   :(  I have a doctor appointment later this afternoon.  I am so sick of having something wrong with me.

Oh do I ever hear you on that one, asdf!

As for today, continuing with chores...did the bulk of the holiday grocery shopping last night(went after workout and got done at like 1030--went to bed about midnight after a chit chat at home and putting away the perishables--yes I still have half the stuff bagged that wasn't perishable sitting by the pantry :p). Ok, done griping...

Already worked out this morning which I promptly followed by a gigantic Bob Evans omelette with my youngest and my mother. Already went to Lowe's and got a new light fixture for the hallway and a beautiful Norfolk Pine to put on the fireplace...decided I will need another to put by the hall tree by the home entrance too..the ones at Lowes are GORGEOUS this year. They also had a stocking with a dog on it with the ears bouncing up and down singing jingle bells. It is for my oldest's pooch(she opens anything for the dog and this is more for her since she'll get a real kick out of it).

Thsi one is like it, but black--the ears go up and down and jingle to the song...oh and lowe's sells them for 12.97 not 24 bucks :p and considering they also had the same one in this auction there,I wish this person luck selling that...they are going to need it.

http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-FUZZY-SINGING-ANIMATED-PLUSH-DOG-CHRISTMAS-STOCKING_W0QQitemZ350094426133QQcmdZViewItem

Anyway, that's pretty much it. Time to get cooking on the cleaning.

Tnight we are having 'fried' chicken, potatoes, corn, and salad.  :cheersmate:

Oh and since it's about 20 degrees here, I'm about to get a fire started in the fireplace.  :p

It is said that branches draw their life from the vine. Each is separate yet all are one as they share one life giving stem . The Bible tells us we are called to a similar union in life, our lives with the life of God. We are incorporated into him; made sharers in his life. Apart from this union we can do nothing.

Thanks everyone, I bet you are sick of listening to me talk about aches and pains.  I know my husband is.

Anyway......apparently it is just a skin infection, probably from shaving.  She gave it a name but I can't remember what she called it, it started with a "K" I think.  She did feel something though in my left breast.  I KNEW something wasn't right in that breast so I didn't touch it for months.  I know that is bad but I was afraid.  It hurts every time I lay on my left side, if I turn on my right side it doesn't hurt.  If I push on that area (always with clothes on because I didn't want to find something) it is sore.  She started the breast exam and I could tell immediately when she got to "that area" and I could see it on her face that she felt something.

She ordered a diagnostic mammogram with an ultrasound of the area.  I don't know what the difference is between a regular mammogram and a diagnostic one.  I can't get in until December 2nd (probably because of Thanksgiving) but the lady who arranges these things at the doctors office told me to call up there over other day and see if there is a cancellation if I am really anxious (which for some reason I'm not really all that anxious).  My doctor told me not to worry.  She didn't seem too alarmed so I'm going to actually listen to her and not worry until I have something to worry about.

She prescribed an antibiotic (clindamycin 300 mg) that she said will take care of the lump under my arm (it isn't in the lymph node, it's about the size of a marble) and also help with my jaw/tooth pain if I have an infection in my tooth or any type of sinus problems (which she did see "stuff" when she looked in my nose and throat).  She said the antibiotic I was taking wouldn't have helped any infection I had in that are and she doesn't know why my dentist told me to continue to take it.  I called my dentist today and asked for a referral to an Endodontist "just in case".  I then called the endodontist and they are booked up but are trying to fit me in before Thanksgiving.  Right now the jaw/tooth pain is hard to quantify because it doesn't really hurt anymore, it feels more like my tooth is bruised and an occasional ache in the jaw but I do have a feeling that something just isn't right in that area. Sometimes it feels like it is in the upper tooth (back molar) and sometimes it feels like it is in the bottom back molar, so who in the heck knows.

Wow BEG, really hoping it's nothing.

I have heard that new cancerous lumps are not generally painful, so hopefully in this case the pain is a good sign.

I have been having this "pain" in my breast for months.  I too heard that new cancerous lumps are not generally painful so I have a good attitude about it.  Also my doctor said that it didn't feel nodular (is that a word?) but rather kind of an "area of thickness" (or something like that).

Keep that chin up, BEG. My mother has calcifications in her breasts and besides having them rescanned every 6 months for 2 years to just keep an eye on them, they developed into nothing. They too were like areas of 'thickness'. Hope that helps some.

A diagnostic mammagram is a more definitive mammogram. More pictures. They may also do an ultrasound.

I've had 3 lumpectomies....all in one breast. All have been fine. But that doesn't mean I wasn't scared shitless during the waiting time. The last one I had to wait 6 weeks from the time the area was found until surgery. By the time I went in for surgery, not only was I a basket case, I was ready to have both whacked off...just to stop the worry.

I will keep you in my prayers, BEG....<<<<hugs>>>> .....and I'm here if you need to talk
