GF has quite a few Vacation Rental properties in S. Lake Tahoe ($500-$2K/night), and all those checks come in the mail.
OK, several things don't add up in the story, but this one jumps off the page.
I know a few people who own Vacation Rental properites, and everyone of of them have a property management service they've hired to oversee the property. Not that you have to do so, but the distance between the SF area and Lake Tahoe is around 200 miles, so unless they personally go there pretty often and check on the property, and are hiring a maid service, and a lawn service, and have plumbers and mechanics on hand that will jump on any matenance problems at a moments notice, and working out all the details of the rental contract, and making sure the customer has the keys, etc..., then I'm calling it just another one of his many lies. For the most part if you have rental vacation property, especially something that's not close by for you to personally check on, and especially if you have more than one (as he claims she has quite a few) then you're an absolute fool not to hire a management service.
