Tuesday and it's freaking cold.
« on: November 11, 2008, 07:18:10 AM »
24 degrees and it is supposed to hit a balmy 40 something with rain and snizzle. (Snowy drizzle)

Happy Veterans Day to all who served!

I see Google atually managed to put up a celebratory logo this year.

Housework and cleaning today.  The cluttercave that is the master bedroom needs to be dug out. Stacks of books needing the shelves in the basement, various piles of organization that need filing, etc.

Whats on your plates today?

I have to work half a day and then I think I'll buy a few groceries and finally watch Ironman, which I've had from Netflix for 3 weeks.

Big cardio days for me today and tomorrow so that occupies a lot of time. Homework today also and then house stuff. It's cold...that is all.  :-)

Doing any running today? I really need to get back into that. It was a great stress reliever when I was doing it regularly.

A slight chill this morning, but nothing my new Edenpure space heater can't handle.

Today's high will be 69.

Today is my Sunday.

27 degrees this morning.  30 now.  40 high.  Finishing my second cup of coffee, then assembling shelving for the garage tools and mowing/removing the leaves from the lawn one more time before I say to hell with it for the year.

I have both my finals today.

I'm one down (I got a 100% on it) and my algebra one stars at 10am.  I feel confident about the algebra one, plus we get to take a crib sheet in with notes so I have all the formulas written down.

I think I only have to work 4 or 5 hours today, which is good because I was up soooo late last night.  If we turn in our algebra homework we get bonus points, plus we had a take home exam and I was up until 2:30am doing that stuff.  Of course I left everything until the night before the exam, but oh well.

*So I expect everyone here to think good thoughts at 10am Central time when I go in for my algebra final*

Sunny out today, kids are off school.  Big day for the little guy...special indoor football practice on artificial turf this afternoon!  Then tonight I have a parent meeting for dance, and I'm selling Nutcracker tickets, too.

Slept in today, 'til 8:30.  Got home from the So You Think You Can Dance tour at about 1:00 this morning.  It was pretty fun.  They did the favorite dances from the show, and it was about 2 1/2 -3 hours long.  Got some decent pictures, too.

No idea whats for dinner or anything else today.  Just winging it, I guess.

Mia--lemme get this straight--you get CHEAT SHEETS?  For ALGEBRA???

Man, where was YOUR instructor when I was in college taking Calculus and Statistics?  Physics, yeah, we got a few, but not many.

How fun! I liked Mark and Courtney's "Garden" dance. Did they perform that one?

Not just any crib sheet, a full front and page 8.5" x 11" piece of paper.  I just need the formulas.

This is what happens when you go to a university that only does business degrees.  Ain't no math majors screwing it up for us business folk.  Plus, along with my crib sheet, the professor really, really, explains things well.

Of course, but considering that after today I'm on break until Dec. 2 I'm willing to take them on a holiday.  The bank we use for work is open today too.

Give me a bit more info on which dance it was?  They did my favorite Mark/Courtney dance...the one with her wearing the funky green, half torn up green costume.  It was a funky, Mia Michaels dance I think.

It's 66 degrees right now, with a breeze.

I just got out of my one class for the day, as the 2nd one was cancelled (Woot!).  I'll be hanging around until I have to go to work.

Statistics, as usual, left me with a pounding headache. :(

It rained here pretty hard here last night.  I was worried about my husband driving home in it.  Today I get to go to the dentist so he can remake my mouth guard that one of the dogs chewed up.   :censored:  I woke up with a stiff neck so I took a muscle relaxer and it made me fall back asleep for an extra 45 minutes.  I probably needed the extra sleep because I kept waking up about every hour last night.  Every time I woke up I could hear one of the dogs licking themselves.  How can a dog lick themselves ALL NIGHT LONG?

I just got an aura (the flashing light/prism thing you get before a Migraine).  It normally last 20 minutes.  I hope to heck I don't end up with a Migraine.

I'm going to hazard a guess that the dog is male and tell you that you just had a major brain freeze if you can't figure out why a male would spend all night doing that...

Because he CAN.  :-)

It happened to be Chloe who is a girl but normally it is Toby (the boy).  Toby isn't actually a male anymore as he no longer has his "you know what's".  Chloe is even the "alfa male", he gives in to her on everything.  He can be eating his food and Chloe will come up and start eating and he will just walk away.  He is a complete wimp.

Doing any running today? I really need to get back into that. It was a great stress reliever when I was doing it regularly.

Nope, not today. I had one of the more advanced step classes(I love step and advanced just means highly coreographed). I think what I've learned about myself in the last several weeks is I love the dancier type of stuff that moves fast when it comes to aerobic activity.
I've kind of cut out any walking/running since it's been around or below freezing the last week or so here and I usually go early in the morning. The treadmill is ok, but I prefer being outside better. I did a little test though on breathing and such since I hadn't done too much running over the summer and the leaps and bounds in my cardiovascular fitness are out of this world. The distance I can run and keep good, steady breathing even amazes me given my starting place and even where I was a few months ago. I think I'm going to continue what I think helped that: intervals and drills in a lot of the classes I'm taking and on the machines. I've started integrating some tai chi/yoga stuff in there too. ENORMOUS stress reliever too and a good wind down before a day off from working out. All that said, I may do a little training on the treadmill for a run in the spring sometime. Nothing too far..maybe a 5k or something.

I know where you are coming from though. Vigorous activity like this is a stress reliever for me too. I just read you thread on the job situation *hugs* and I do think while you are looking at other options and doing the waiting game, this will be a good thing for you to get back into to help with what you said. Always good for the confidence going into an interview too if it comes to that. Plus the weather is getting nice out that way I bet! Perfect for running.

Sounds like you are doing really great, jty! :)

I have started running a little again. And I do mean just a little. I've been meeting up with my sis to play racquetball once a week or so and afterward we go for a run around the park where the courts are. I mapped it on mapmyrun.com and it's about .5 mile around. The first time we did it (about 3 weeks ago), I was winded about a .25 into it. Then I did a little better the next time and so on. I keep improving each time I do it. So I'm slowing building up my endurance again. I always feel really good afterward so I definitely need to stay disciplined with it.

And you are right, the weather here is perfect now. I have no excuse not to get outside.

Went to check out my new foreclosed properties today....oh my.. :banghead:

One is a serious work in progress. Most of the siding is torn off, rooms partly redone, no sink in the bathroom, broken windows, no gutters, many lights not in and wires hanging. Someone will have to put some serious money into it.

Other one, looking at the pictures from when it was on the market 4 yrs ago, was nice at the time. Couldn't get in it, but looking through the windows that I was tall enough to see into....the bedrooms looked trashed. The siding is all mildewed on one side. Neighbors said the woman that left there hasn't been around in quite awhile. New doorknobs and locks will be on it tomorrow.

Investors will buy them and fix them up. The second one, if in good condition would be about 85k....will probably be listed in the 40's. First one.....maybe 25k. Sad...........

Rainy tonight......had some cinnamon tea while ago with cinnamon schnapps and a touch of whip cream....couldn't warm up after walking around those houses in the damp air. Supposed to rain the next several days, with the worst hitting tomorrow night and Thursday with strong storms. Was dusk at 4:30! Winter's coming.

Has anyone seen any of the solar yard lights that stab into the ground? I saw some at Big Lots, I think, a couple of weeks ago on sale, and stopped at 2 of them in my travels about today....neither had any left.
Mine have all died.....and it's dark in the woods. :o I would like to find them on sale.....
Just hand over the chocolate...back away slowly...far away....and you won't get hurt....

Save the Earth... it's the only planet with chocolate.

"My therapist told me the way to achieve true inner peace is to finish what I start. So far I've finished two bags of M&M's and a chocolate cake. I feel better already." – Dave Barry
