Forget playoffs, BCS thriving this season

To borrow a bit from frank...

Oh my

Quote
Our president-elect has clearly established himself ...

As a gabby orator.

As a gifted speaker with loads of ... experience?

As a slick speech maker who keeps his promises. At least when it comes to puppies.

Have I touched a nerve yet, America?

What about Barack Obama, BCS expert?

Now there's a bandwagon for everyone to climb on -- from Joe Six Pack to Joe Paterno.

When the Obamanator suggested an eight-team college football playoff last week the nation acted like he had discovered a cure for the common cold. (No, that wasn't a campaign promise but I'm still checking)

The sports talk world was astounded that this brilliant man had boldly unearthed (Indiana Obama?) some sort of jewel of denial. It was so obvious, why couldn't we see it front of our faces?

A playoff. Yes, of course.

Call the networks. Get the presidents together. Yes, we can!

Sorry, 52 percenters. Don't even hope for change. Even charisma has its limitations.

College football woke up Sunday with a heck of a playoff. It was better than anything an eight-team bracket could produce. The national championship race is essentially down to two conferences and six teams
Dennis Dodd is far from my favorite but this was a fun read. See the rest at the link.

well,

I would say that prolly THE MOST subsidized 'industry' in this country are the  STATE Universities  ..

so I would imagine the presidents of these STATE  universities have to bow down before their gods when asked to (ie: government) ...

my guess is,  the pres &/or speaker of the house could make these big, tough, postering presidents of universities cry like babies at a moments notice (ie: we're cutting off your funds)...

I wouldn't bat an eye at nobama forcing these doosh's into a playoff system.... but  we will never know cause that would all be behind closed doors, if that ever happened...

all I know is the 'college system'  is already trying to screw  Texas Tech  (TT one of the only teams in  recent history being forced to play 3 top 10 teams in a row ....correct?)

whats up w/ that ??

trying to keep the 'little guy' down ??  :p

How?  If they win out they'll go to the BCS Championship Game.

The schedule was made way before the teams were ranked. Anywho, TT can hold their own.

IMHO the BCS is better than the old system and likely at east as good as a playoff system would be. Imperfect as it is, it keeps a lot of traditions alive. I'm from the philosophical school of "every game is a playoff game" granted, with a little fuzzy math trown in.

WTF does the BCS have to do with TT playing 3 top 10 teams in a row, JCC? Damn, you're an idiot.

BTW, there are teams in the SEC that play 3 top 10 teams EVERY year.

The truth, it burns 'da eyes.  :cheersmate:

BTW, I'm calling the NC now. Red Raiders vs. the Blue and Orange Gators.

After the Gators lost to my Rebs, they got pissed. REAL pissed. They'd kill us by at least 20 points right now.

....but I do believe LSU will go down to Ole Miss this year.

I'm thinking Texas Tech gets beat by OU which opens the door back up for Texas.  As for the other, either Bama or Florida.

What might mess it up would be FSU beating Florida and then Florida beating Bama, which would throw USC back into the mix. Or maybe OU if they stay ahead of them in the BCS.

Ahhhhhh, too much football to be played,...... thankfully.  :-)

the whole playoff concept is a sinister bolshevistic deception.  people that support it simply haven't thought it through.  no matter how you bracket the thing, it doesn't solve the problem, it merely moves it.  a 4 team playoff?  there will be uproar and controversy because the #5 and #6 teams "deserved" to be in the bracket more than the #3 and #4.  and once you make it into the bracket, it's anyone's championship to win.

any time you draw a line, there will be controversy.
