Oh my.

There's some good pictures at this bonfire, well worth getting out the boat and rowing over to Skins's island to see; this bonfire was lit in June 2008, but it's still burning.

First, Grandma with the diverted intestine:

Chicken or guinea keet? What say you? (3 pics)

We have a new addition to our little family of feathered friends. The kid across the road had to hatch an egg for school but they brought the little guy/gal over here because they thought it was too lonely and needed to be around other fowl. We still have to keep him isolated because of the medicated feed and the fact that when he stuck his head into the chicken pen, he got it pecked pretty good. So he's in a very large dog carrier in the duck pen.

Goes by the name of Rambo. Hey, a ten your old kid named him. LOL Cute as the dickens, tho. He said it was born sometime in April so not really sure how old it is.

Can't really tell what it is, tho. I've looked around at pics of various breeds and it's still up for grabs. I suppose it could be a mix of a couple of breeds. The thing he/she seems to most resemble is a guinea. Any guesses?

It's a reasonably big bonfire, which is unusual for the rural part of Skins's island.

3. Chicken Definately

Probably a cock since it's already showing some comb development.

Could be like a mix of Barred Rock and RI Red?

Also maybe Aracauna. I can't tell from the pic for sure but does it have little head tufts on each side? It looks like it's got green legs like an Aracuana which can be any color.

17. The new nightly ritual has begun.

The poor little guy. He's so lonely because the big girls chase him and peck at him (still presuming gender here.) So we keep him in a very large dog carrier with hay, food, and water at night. During the day when we push the girls off in their tractor, he gets released into the pen, still alone but with lots of room to run around.

Husband has been letting the girls back into the pen for a little while and staying in there to make sure he doesn't take too much abuse and then putting him back in his dog carrier for the night. Hopefully, they will stop pecking at him as he gets a little bigger and they get used to his presence.

These teachers that have these kids take home a fertilized egg to hatch really need to find a way to keep them from being loners somehow. This hasn't been much fun for the poor little one.

I dunno.

Since the primitives can't seem to agree what it is, perhaps someone among decent and civilized people can tell us what it is.

It looks like just another bird to me.

Looks like the pic link is no good, jsut seeing the ol' red x in the OP.  As for the other pics, guineas are a helluva lot cuter as chicks than they are as adults.

Can't they just consult the Sibley's site or do a damn search?  I mean, this is the Internets after all.  Some of them would do anything to pad their post count.

Wow.

I get Grandma with the diverted intestine's pictures, no red "x."

And I'm still on a crippled computer with Windows98.

Trust me, Tanker, they look like birds, ordinary run-of-the-mill everyday birds.

I'll check at home, later; could be the work domain has the pic host blocked.

Could be, peter.  It sure as Hell isn't a guinea, and if it was one of the species of chicken with barred plumage it would be showing an identifiable comb by now.
