Unless one of us is diagnosed with a fatal disease, or something else at that level of awfulness happens in the next two months…Rupert and I are moving to Britain.Yes, that Britain. The UK. Ye olde England. Less than two weeks ago, Rupert’s employer (a big, eeeevil corporation) offered him a position at their UK location for a 3-year stint. He wants it. I said okay. We’re gonna do it. I know! Of all places for a person with an entire blog category called “Britain Surrenders†to go. Surrender they will…TO ME. Of course I have qualms, such as the fact that I won’t be able to take my guns and will be in a socialist country that has Shari’a courts. But we cannot say no to this opportunity because we’re going to be able to travel Europe for the next three years pretty much at our whim, and we really want to do that. As you may know, I’m kind of obsessed with history; I minored in WWII history in college (the first time around) and have since become well-versed in ancient Roman history, and my god! The things I’ll be able to see! When you can only visit the ancient sites while on a crazy 2-week vacation, that’s great and all, but living there, only hours away from Paris and Amsterdam and Rome? Knock me down and call me Betty, it is like a dream come true. We’ll probably be living in the southern part of England, which means Normandy Beach will be a short ferry ride away. The monument in Germany with my grandfather’s name on it (he was shot down on a bombing mission in August 1944) will be only hours away. I can go see it, finally, with a simple weekend jaunt. We’ll be able to take a long weekend to go back to Rome to finish seeing all the things we missed when we were there last winter. Hadrian’s wall? Day trip. The Maginot Line bunkers? Day trip. Dozens of WWII and ancient sites? Day trips! I could go on and on but you get the point. I’M TOTALLY STOKED.And of course I will blog it all. Rachl Lukis storms the EU! Imagine the possibilities.
Her blog is hilarious. Her trials and tribulations with life in generalare must reads. Plus she's a friend of Bill Whittle. Her doggie picturesare cool too. Check it out.
I have left her a 'welcome to England message'. I've got it bookmarked for the future, thanks Servo!
Your very welcome bijou. I've been meaning visit England myself. I always wantedto see the Tower of London, Big Ben and Glastonbury Abbey.
Be sure to let me know when you come. I'll be glad to show you around.
I've never read this blog before but after a quick read I can tell I like it. I'm going to put it in my favorites. Thanks Servonaut.
