HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - A voting rights group says officials at overwhelmed Pennsylvania polling places, primarily in Pittsburgh, are asking volunteers to step in as temporary poll workers.

The Election Protection Coalition did not specify the number of precincts that they say are understaffed.

Allegheny County's election manager, Mark Wolocik, said Tuesday it is not unusual for an election board member to enlist extra help with clerical duties at a busy polling place.

Wolocik says he expects 75 percent turnout in heavily populated Allegheny County, slightly higher than turnout in recent presidential elections.

allegheny county went 57% for kerry in 2004 . . .

Well, If you vote, leave, get back in line and vote again, congestion is bound to happen - like at an amusement part when a new rollercoaster opens up.

I suspect in balanced or Republican cities and counties, this is less likely to happen.

that's because republicans have jobs to go to . . . and we have responsibilities that won't allow us to take election day off just because the Obamessiah so commandeth, and then go piss away the entire day screwing around down at the polling place. :-)
