Some can't lick an addiction to balms

Some can't lick an addiction to balms

He thought about it all the time. He had to have it. If he went too long without it, his need for a fix consumed him.

This wasn't about drugs or alcohol or cigarettes. Not even checking his e-mail.

Kevin C. was a lip balm addict. A sweaty, obsessed, quivering addict.

So much so that he founded Lip Balm Anonymous.

He's clean now.

"It's been about 13 years, six months and two days," says Kevin Crossman, who will share his full name now that he's gotten past the shame. "I went cold turkey."

Crossman is just one of millions who are, let's just say, quite attached to their lip balm. According to ACNielsen Co., sales of lip balms grew last year to more than $378 million.

-snip-

I have to admit, I'm never far away from my Burt Bees, but I don't think it's an "addiction."

Just keep telling yourself that hon!

It starts out small but then before you know it you are spending the rent money on one more tube and cruising truck stop lots to pay for the kind with sunscreen.

You won't get help until you admit you have a problem.

In our house we have somewhere near 100 tubes of various brands of lip balm.  Every time Avon has a new flavor out I order it.  Every time Carmex or Blistex comes out with a new product I buy it.  I can't sleep without lip balm.  I can't drive with out it.  I couldn't even make my 2342329873492 phone calls at the republican office today without it in my pocket.  I am not ashamed either.  I don't mind being labled an addict.

I have an acquaintance that is addicted to lip balm but she is also an on again off again drug addict.  Her lip balm addiction runs constant while her drug addiction comes and goes.

SANTA BARBARA, CA—A Ventura County career criminal was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison under California's three-strikes law for stealing $11.53 worth of goods from a grocery store.

Ronald Herrera, who already had 17 serious felonies under his belt before the January theft at a Carpinteria Von's supermarket, was found guilty of commercial burglary and petty theft with prior convictions. He stole lip balm, breath freshener and a bottle of cheap wine.

Hubby favors Burt's Bees while I favor cherry flavored Carmex in the tube.

I like the slight tingle you get with Burt Bees.  :)  I think they have a cherry flavor now.

Neutragena lip balm. It rocks :-)
I can see November 2 from my house!!!

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

My son's got a "thing" for Chapstick......
Just hand over the chocolate...back away slowly...far away....and you won't get hurt....

Save the Earth... it's the only planet with chocolate.

A balanced diet is chocolate in both hands.

They do indeed.  We have a tube of that too.

He seems to find a lot of young women who like his chapstick......  :uhsure:

He's 27 and has no intentions of "settling" any time soon.... :whatever:
