Guess what Obama told San Francisco about you?

Obama says he will bankrupt the coal industry!!! San Francisco Gate Interview Jan 2008

Interviewer: Alternatives including coal or?

Obama: Let me sort of describe my overall policy. Now what I have said is that we would put a cap and trade system in place that is more that is as aggressive if not more aggressive as anybody else's out there.

I was the first to call for a 100% option on the cap and trade system which means that every unit of carbon or greenhouse gases was emitted would be charged to the polluter. That will create a market in which whatever technologies are out there that are being presented whatever power plants that are being built that they would have to meet those the rigures of that market and the ratcheded down caps are placed imposed every year.

So if somebody wants to build a coal power plant they can. It's just that it will bankrupt them because they are going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that's being emitted.

That will also generate billions of dollars that we can invest in solar, wind, bio-diesel and other alternative energy approaches.

The only thing that I have said with respect to coal, I havent been some coal booster. What I have said is that for us to take coal off the table as an ideological matter as opposed to saying if technology allows us to use coal in a clean way we should pursue it.

Biden: No coal plants are in America, build them if they are going to build them over there. Make them clean because they are killing you.

As a person whose life depends on power generation and who grew up in a family where most of our income is derived in one manner or another from coal mining, processing, or power generation, this clown is SERIOUSLY dangerous.  100 percent ****ing certifiable.

The short version is you sue them, their parent companies or whoever buys the companies assets forever. The EPA has some scaryass regulations in place, and has for years.

For example:
Joe's Garage installs a hydraulic lift for servicing cars, and after 20 years learn its not profitable, and he replaces the garage part of their business with a convenience store. Instead of ripping the lift out of the ground, they cement it in and build the floor of the store right over it. 100 years later, long after the owner has died, and the business was bulldozed to make way for expanded parking for a strip mall. The hydraulic lift is still there and finally rots to the point of releasing fluid into a water runoff.

Even though the company that owns the strip mall had no idea that the lift was ever there, they are 100% responsible for the cleanup, and all costs associated with it, and are also open to lawsuits to anyone who feels that they or their property was poisoned by that fluid leak.

That's pretty close to the way it works.  After the original contamination, whenever it may ultimately be discovered, all subsequent commercial owners are 'jointly and severally liable' which translates to the EPA going after whoever is the most solvent, usually the poor bastard currently occupying the site.  They can pick who they go after without regard to actual fault, and they almost always do that strictly on the bvsis of 'who has any money now.'
The one good thing in the whole oppressive scheme is that if the property was converted to residential lots at some point, at least the homeowners aren't on the hook for the cleanup (of course they'll probably have to hope it's bad enough to be a superfund site so they can take a buy-out from EPA, 'cause once they know about the contamination they won't be able to sell that house for anything but inclusion in a wildlife refuge - nobody would buy it to live in, and any commercial buyer would be buying into liability for the cleanup).

You forgot to put in all the stuttering and um's and what not in :) This guy is a stuttering douche bag and people thought Bush could not speak well.
"You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it."

The same way one generates jobs by taking money away from those who produce jobs and giving it to those who don't.
