At times, I have problems differentiating between ephermal celebrity personalities.

At first, I thought Erica Jong was Naomi Wolf.

Or something like that.

Isn't she, like, in the 8th decade of her life, you know, kind of old?

Yes, she was mainly known for writing about sex at one time, 30 years of so ago.  Once she got too old to attract any partners to base that on, she became a literary grand dame in onanistic venues like New Yorker.  The pretensions to literary relevance all derive from the sex writing and subsequent celebritihood 'experience,' not actual literature.

Actually it probably will drive many undecideds to wanting Jane Fonda to get all depressed and Erica Jong to have to get more acupuncture treatments or however she relieves her stress. Vote for McCain and think of Jane Fonda and Erica Jong feeling the pain.  :-)
