I was just interviewed by the Marin Independent Journal (they found me on DU!)

While I have done quite a few interviews with the IJ, they were always on topics of which I have some expertise, experience and local credibilty (music, art, economic development, Tom Snyder, etc).

Just a few minutes ago, the phone rang and on the other end was a reporter from the IJ. He wanted to talk to me about the divisions wrought by the Presidential campaigns and wanted to know my opinions on same.

I asked him just why in the hell (I talk like that, you know) he was calling me, as I am not really very active, politically.

He said he found me on Democratic Underground and that, from what he saw, I had no shortage of opinions.

The IJ is the second-most read paper in the Bay Area and #1 in Marin County.

By the way, I have the IJ's permission to post this on DU.

You just never know, sometimes.

10. They asked me if I thought this divisiveness was an original intent...if I was seeing much of it in Tiburon, Marin, or Sonoma (I spend a lot of time locally, in the County, and in Sonoma, because that is where the free wine is).

I basically went stream-of-consciousness, because that is how I talk. I went on about Lee Atwater, Rove, Reagan, Bush, Palin, and on and on. By the time they edit the profanity, there won't be much left.

They asked if they could use my name, for attribution. I said, "Hell, yes".

They even went as far as to ask if I was concerned about repercussions from the Right (it would not be the first time for me).

I told them it was about time we started hitting back.

18. They have been pretty conventional, in the past.

But they have been moving in our direction, lately.

On their fron page, recently, they had a quote from Richard Dreyfus on playing Cheney in "W".

Something like, "How do you play a person who has no soul?". Said to get into character, he would imagine trying to become a malignant cancer.

I asked them if it was OK if I posted this on DU.

They told me that, evidently, the wimps at the "other" sites must use Linux or Lexus or whatever (I don't know shit about that stuff) and that every time they mention my name or put up a picture of me, the website is bombarded and they make money off each hit.

Isn't that effing hilarious? That "other" place is, at times, so obsessed with causing problems that the idiots end up making money for any publication or program that has the temerity to use any of us as a source.

I just love it.

I haven't had my coffee yet this morning; it's a small-to-medium-sized bonfire, and there's some Primitives of Prominence at it, but I was concentrating solely upon whatever the lying titty primitive's yapping about.

So I suggest if one is interested, he get out the boat and row over to Skins's island to watch the whole bonfire in its entirety, to see all that I missed.

He's a tough one to keep track of.

At the time of that article he apparently was selling Hallmark Keepsakes and Yankee Candles at Giftique.

Opia apparently changed their name to Gallery 108, which has the same logo as Opia formerly had and Tom's recent you-tube video matches the stuff that they sell better than the hallmark store.

My guess is that he's really the colorful town drunk and the stores have him run errands, sweep the sidewalk and other crap to try and keep him out of trouble.
