Obama Infomercial
« on: October 29, 2008, 08:00:29 PM »
Anyone watch this tonight?   I watched the first 3 minutes, then shut it off when he was filmed in a "presidential-like" office with a big american flag on the side. :whatever:

I think this will back-fire on him...it brings cocky to a whole new level.

WASHINGTON -- In a campaign ad aired at a cost of millions, Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama promised a rescue plan for the middle class in tough times Wednesday night as he reached for victory in his 21-month quest for the presidency.

"I will not be a perfect president," Obama said in the commercial. "But I can promise you this -- I will always tell you what I think and where I stand."

Aides described the unusual ad as a final summation of Obama's campaign. They put the total cost at roughly $4 million, enough to show it simultaneously on CBS, NBC and Fox. It also was running on BET, Univision, MSNBC and TV One.

IF they truly believe they are as far ahead in the polls as some of the polls suggest .... why spend $4 Million + to 'close the deal'??

What a loser.

I watched it long enough to realize it wasn't a 30-second campaign ad and turned the TV off.

You're right... cocky as hell.

I think I reported in another thread that here in Colorado, Teh Obamessiah has bought the use of an entire channel of Dish Network, dedicated to telling us 'Obama's plan for America', 24/7 for the past 6-8 weeks or so.

I'm up here in the office writing, instead of parked downstairs, in front of my box of 500 gazillion channels of chrome-plated crap for a reason.

Interesting bit if you think about it...

Quote
After months of campaigning, Obama offered no new proposals in the ad. Instead, he stressed his plan to offer tax cuts to the middle class, "restore the long-term health of our economy and our middle class."

firstly they say "offer" regarding the middle class tax cuts.

this opens it up for Nancy to decline.

they they say tax cuts when they are not tax cuts at all.  at best they are possible exemptions, at worst they're a check for the 40% that pay no taxes.
My fellow Americans, there is nothing audacious about hope. Hope is what makes people buy lottery tickets instead of paying the bills. Hope is for the old gals feeding the slots in Atlantic City. It destroys the inner-city kid who quits school because he hopes he'll be a world-famous recording artist.

What's the difference between Sarah Palin and Barack Obama?

One is a well turned-out, good-looking, and let's be honest, pretty sexy piece of eye-candy.

The other kills her own food.

i watched it (the wife is an obamaton, but then again, she's from IL), and noticed how the promised cieling for the tax cuts have changed from $250K to $200K.  Compared that to what I heard on Hannity today with O on tape first saying 300K, then 250K (that lasted for about a month), lately 200K, and 150K as of the last couple days per Biden... at this rate, it'll be 25K by January 21

I believe it was about 44K when he first started campaigning...after enough outcries from the "middle class", it was raised to 250K...but as one can plainly see, it is getting lower by the day.

I call it a mistake - He is supposedly ahead in most/all polls even if only by a few points - He should just queitly let the election come to Him.  Unless they know that they are in serious trouble and the extra exposure was a calculated risk. Or He really is that ******* arrogant.

I think he's really that arrogant. I only could stand to look at a little snippet on Fox News. Even that got me sick.

Dick Morris had a good point on Hannity tonight. He said that there won't be more doctors and health care providers instantly to accomodate the flood of illegals getting that universal health care. Soooo, the elderly will probably be denied many procedures, as they'll say a 20 year old illegal will take priority.

Hope peope think beyond all that change and hope junk.

I have to agree - I felt is was overreaching when I first heard about it - its wasteful, and creates an impression of arrogance, that could backfire.

Most folks who are ahead just try to shift into neutral and coast, but not Obama. Either he thinks he is better than all of us, he is that naive, or his victory has moved into uncertainty.

then he started off with a demonstrable lie.  we already have no idea what he thinks or where he stands on anything.  just by way of example, are we electing the obama that ran in the primaries, or the one that has been running since he dropped hillary?  they are two completely different people.  we could be about to elect someone president that we know nothing about except for what his campaign, and his campaign's mouthpiece, the MSM, is willing to tell us.

he could be creating a massive case of "obama fatigue".  he is already omnipresent in the swing states with his campaign commercials;  I dunno, perhaps this will be too much.   I think he is trying to knock the remaining undecideds off the fence, and some of them are probably squishy enough to fall for this, "you can trust me, I am one of you" crap that was the whole point of the infomercial.

but never underestimate what buying 30 minutes on 8 television networks (or $600,000,000) can do for you.

thats part of the irritation.. at least with clinton you knew you got the slimeball with the great orator. we knew upfront he was a dog and couldnt keep it in his pants.

with obama.. its a total crapshoot. ive watched all of his stuff, watched his debates, read some books on him, by him.

i still have no idea who he is at this late date. he blows in the wind, depending on his audience and i cant think of a better personification of an empty suit in the political world.

and the DUers were all crying over his infomercial ..  :whatever:

yeah, he and Michelle are so like us.. there was an article about the hand sewn feathers on her dress {from a woman in India, no less) and how she typically wears 5000 dollar dresses.

then she went on Leno and said she buys J. Crew off the internet..

do these two really believe we're that stupid?  :whatever:

clinton was all about clinton, and remaining in power.  so, to a large extent, he governed by focus groups and opinion polls.  he never once got out in front of popular opinion and actually lead the country.  obama is a true believer, I suspect.  I honestly think the "redistribute the wealth" comment was a moment of unintentional honesty.  this guy does have a grand utopian vision where we are all "taken care of" by the brilliant people in washington, he just knows he can't get elected talking about it.

yes.  in fact, we have proven that we are that stupid.  we have bought everything that he has tried to sell us, from the "we just paid off our student loans" (which raises a whole different series of questions that no one is asking) to flatly impossible $250K limit on tax hikes in his tax plan, which is just a huge lie.  his tax plan won't pay for itself, much less his staggeringly huge domestic agenda.

his debate comment on raising capital gains taxes, despite historical proof that it reduces federal revenue and damages the economy, because it is a "fairness issue" is another unintentional moment of clarity into the real obama agenda.
