My breakfast with two conservative Republicans   Updated at 7:02 PM

I live in Orange County, CA. SOUTH Orange County, CA. It is no secret that the politics (at least on a national level) are conservative here. Some neo-con, some fundie-conservative, and some are just "good old fashioned Goldwater Republicans". I have friends who are just as conservative and Republican as I am liberal and a Democrat. We do not agree on most of the issues. They and I are quite content to live and let live, and we rarely discuss politics, as we know there will be disagreements. We can agree to disagree, and still be friends.

Well, I was at breakfast with two of my friends this morning and the subject of politics came up. I was pleasantly surprised when both of them stated that they were voting for Obama. They were unenthusiastic about McCain, and then he chose Palin. Palin was a deal breaker for both of them. Her lack of experience and lack of basic knowledge about her role as VP and possible POTUS were cited as the reasons they were crossing party lines and voting for Barack Obama.

:wow:

1. Excellent news

Anyone with some sense of intelligence and decency could not in their right mind vote for Palin. That woman should not be anywhere near the presidency!

No one in their right mind would vote for Obama, but you idiots lack the capability of rational thought.

They are intent on trying to convince one another that Gov.Palin is a problem for McCain.

The only problem is that they are too dense to realize that we recognize the script as it as been repeated by libs over and over again to the point of it being old.
Sort of like the racisim thing.

The other morning I went to Denny's and saw these two hippie types in their 50's.  She was wearing a "Save the Whales" t-shirt and clearly hadn't washed her hair since the carter administration.  The rubber-band that held his gray ponytail in place had "Go Dukakis" on it.

But when I wandered near to them I heard him murmur "Biden today said he will start taxing us -- it was OK when it was the rich but now obama wants our money!  Honey, it was fun while it lasted but now they are coming after US!"

I just smiled that secret smile that we all know of.

They were unenthusiastic about McCain

So were most conservatives.

...and then he chose Palin. Palin was a deal breaker for both of them.

B.S.  Most conservatives embraced the McCain/Palin ticket once she was picked.

More garbage.  She has far more executive experience than Obama.

Sorry KitchenWitch, you may have had breakfast with two conservative Republicans, but they certainly aren't voting for Obama.

did anyone see this thread over there earlier... i was laughing so hard, i lost it on my desktop, but here was the jist of it.

Quote
"went to an obama rally, freeper type sat down near me with a McCain/Palin button on. clearly the wife had made him come.

for a while he didnt clap or smile but as time wore on, he started to smile and nod and then he ripped that button off his shirt! obama grabbed that man in his soul and didnt let go! i WITNESSED the birth of a human being who turned from the dark side to the light!!!"

it was way more colorful and full of detail than that, but it amazes me that a person's entire character and life experience can be washed away by one speech.. of course, the rest of the monkeys lined up to high five the idiot and totally believed the story.  :whatever:

Oh, this is classic. I'm surprised Obama didn't inspire a "Free at last! Free at last!" to burst forth from his soul, a la a Pentacostal church service, in him as well.

Who are they talking to with this BS?

Conservatives aren't allowed to be on their site so this is the equivalent of masturbating then bragging about your sexual prowess

 :rotf:Yeah, doing the "pinky jerk".
