Group Pride Rooted in Insecurity

This explains so much about Skin's Island, and the Demoncrats in general.

From screaming baseball fans to political rally-goers, groups that engage in boastful self-aggrandizing may be trying to mask insecurity and low social status.
"Our results suggest that hubristic, pompous displays of group pride might actually be a sign of group insecurity as opposed to a sign of strength," said researcher Cynthia Pickett, associate professor of psychology at the University of California, Davis.
The new study reveals how two types of pride are related to a person's good feelings about one social group or another to which they belong. These good feelings could come from being a Los Angeles Lakers fan (when they win), a war veteran, a member of a particular ethnic group or a sorority gal or fraternity brother. But while authentic pride is linked with real confidence in your group, hubristic pride is a false arrogance that belies insecurities about one's group.

It's kind of thunderingly obvious, a meaningless academic observation especially with that equivocal "May" stuck in there.  Hard to believe people actually get grant money to come up with pointless shit like this.

Any assertion of strength or supremacy in any field of endeavor has its roots in a challenge or possible challenge, and hence either insecurity (in a sense) about a possible rival, or as a response to an actual rival's challenging action.  Humans being social creatures in both peace and conflict, it has the entirely-valid functions of both rallying one's own side and demoralizing the rival by demonstrating that your group is going to make them pay for it.

This isn't news. DUmmies practice collectivism. Conservatives practice individuality.
NAMBLA is a left-wing organization.

Quote
There's a reason why patriotism is considered a conservative value. Watch a Tea Party rally and you'll see people proudly raising the American flag and showing pride in U.S. heroes such as Thomas Jefferson. Watch an OWS rally and you'll see people burning the American flag while showing pride in communist heroes such as Che Guevera. --Bob, from some news site
