I was left speechless

My neighbor is a contractor. Mid sixties, Vietnam vet, conservative, and what might be described on the values voter end of the spectrum. I suspect if he ever voted for a Democrat, it might have meen '64 for Johnson (and I'll bet he was too young). However, he's a really nice guy, and his company just did some excellent tuckpointing on the front of my house.

He drove by today and I asked if he'd received my check for the work. He, by way of an answer, presented me with one of the calendars his company gives to clients. I thanked him, he thanked me, and then... as he got in his truck he said ...

"I voted for Obama" (note: we have early voting)

I. Was. Speechless. (but I thanked him)

If we're reaching voters this deep in the GOP base in NE-2, something really is changing.

1. This simple story made me cry. I get the sense that he told you

because he knew you'd be proud. This makes me feel so glad in my heart.

9. I've never shed so many happy tears as I have this week

There are so many wonderful stories like this coming out, and where Obama had begun the process of restoring my faith in this country, everyday Americans have started joining in. I feel an age of cynicism may finally be coming to a close in this country, and I couldn't be happier.

11. Heard the same thing from my Mom.

She sent my Aunt(her sis) the video somebody made of the angry McCain supporters and Powell endorsing Obama, and she responded with "I'm voting for your guy". She's always been a military republican.

Why don't we ever hear stories of people switching from Kerry voters to McCain voters? Hmmm...

I wonder where they meet these people.  Seriously.  I know lots of people.  I know ones that were voting democrat.  I know ones that weren't voting.  I know ones that were voting republican.

I know democrats that have been turned off by Barry, and won't vote for him.  I know some democrats that like McCain and are voting for him.  I know some that weren't voting and now are, the usual reason seems to be to vote for Sarah Palin.  I know some Republicans that don't like either ticket and aren't voting.

I don't know of a single Republican that has decided to vote for Obama.  No doubt some do exist, but I don't know of any.  Weird that.

So, this afternoon I went to get my oil changed at the Jiffy Lube. They were working on a few cars but only one person was in waiting room ahead of me so I charged ahead.  As I walked to the door past the decorative shrubbery I was taken aback for a moment when no cops jumped out at me. Entering the store I suspected that it was this other customers mini-van with the Obama bumper sticker I had noticed when parking. Keeping my cool I calmly asked her how long she had been waiting. She said "About 15 minutes" and smiled. She did not guess I was a McCain/Palin guy.
Mr. Lube came in and took my keys telling me it would be about 20 to 30 minutes to get my car done. On the TV in the background an Obama ad began to play. This being Ohio, it was campaign ad number Brazilian for all three of us and no one paid it any mind. I said I would walk over to the burger joint for a snack and be back in a bit. He was cool with that. Upon my return the nice lady was gone and my car was ready. ($35) I drove it home.

100% true story. (except for the part about the Obama bumper sticker)

"When you see that trading is done, not by consent, but by compulsion - when you see that in order to produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing - when you see that money is flowing to those who deal, not in goods, but in favors - when you see that men get richer by graft and by pull than by work, and your laws don't protect you against them, but protect them against you - when you see corruption being rewarded and honesty becoming a self-sacrifice - you may know that your society is doomed."

I used to think that if you wanted to find the stupidest, most irrelevant people in America, you need only check the "Readers Letters" section of People Magazine.... letters that say things like, "Kudos to Katie Holmes!  The pictures of her and Tom and Suri show how much beauty and happiness they bring to her life, and goodness knows she deserves it!"

But now I've found perhaps the MOST stupid, MOST irrelevant person ever born:
